Sammy Virji and Chris Lake Trade 9-to-5 Misery for Dancefloor Bliss in New Single: Listen

Sammy Virji and Chris Lake have reunited for a new single, “925,” out today via Astralwerks.

It’s the duo’s second collaboration after “Summertime Blues,” which dropped in April 2024. The track will appear on Virji’s forthcoming album, Same Day Cleaning, due out September 19th.

Virji’s knack for infectious rhythms meets Lake’s polished house sensibilities, delivering a bubbly banger oozing with disco warmth. The track’s title hints at the 9-to-5 grind, but its chugging bassline and effervescent grooves are meant for sun-kissed dancefloors, not cubicle captivity.

Meanwhile, the vocals read like drunk texts you shouldn’t have sent after pounding a few not-so-harmless martinis on your lunch break: “You can take my name, my number, my alibi / Please don’t break my heart in pieces and make my cry / Stuck in isolation, sensation isn’t satisfying / I’ll be at the station waiting patiently to change your life.”

But while the lyrics paint a picture of romantic desperation, the production from Virji and Lake radiates pure euphoria. The track bounces with the same irrepressible energy as early Disclosure, yet carries enough grit to satisfy purists who’ve watched house music’s slow march toward the mainstream with suspicious eyes.

Same Day Cleaning, Virji’s forthcoming sophomore album, follows 2020’s debut Spice Up My Life. The UK garage star recently announced that the project will feature 16 tracks, including collaborations with Skepta, Flowdan, 33 Below and EDM.com Class of 2025 artist Champion, among others.
