Saliva

The girlies are fighting again and boy, is it giving me life. There’s been some drama amongst the Saliva camp with the band’s current and former members for a little while now. Brad Stewart, who’s been the bassist for the band since 2015, is getting pretty sick and tired of former frontman Josey Scott coming for them in their current iteration. He expressed his slight annoyance with it all on a recent episode of his podcast The Vinyl Road that he cohosts with Jason Bailey, where he spoke more on Scott still trying to come for smoke.

The smoke in question? Well, other than Scott wanting to reclaim the Saliva name (after all, he does say it’s his “name” and that he “put that band together one member at a time), Scott says the current lineup of the band is a “Temu version of Saliva, with some kind of a bastardized version that Bobby [Amaru] puts together.” Not gonna lie, but this is singlehandedly the best fuckin drag of both Temu AND Saliva somehow. Scott did some nasty work with that one.

Getting back to Stewart, he wanted to make sure he communicated how entirely unfazed he is by all of this, throwing Scott’s shade back in his face as the one who tried to dead the band in the first place…

“[It] doesn’t bother me at all. One bit. And I’ll tell you why — because it’s basically a desperate way to draw attention to a situation he hasn’t had control over for a long time. No one’s showing up to his shows as Josey Scott, so he needs the brand, but I think the brand has lived on and evolved because of the work that we’ve put in. So, the things he’s gonna say… He doesn’t act like he even knows me, in that article. So, what do you do with something like that? He knows who I am. He knows what I’ve done and what I’ve been a part of and my influence and the people I know in this business and otherwise. So, him trying to trash what we’ve done — again, he should be thanking us for keeping the thing that he tried to kill and ultimately sabotage and end so long ago. And he’s playing the victim. So he’s making us look like the bad guy for carrying on something that he ultimately tried to end. So I don’t feel bad about it…”

Scott left Saliva on his own accord in 2011 to focus on other facets of his life, reuniting with the band shortly back in 2022. One of the reasons Scott is so salty has to do with the singer who replaced him the following year, Bobby Amaru, who has literally been running that shit ever since. But, at the end of the day, a band is a business and a business has to keep running, so anything Scott has to say is only pumping up the Saliva volume, in Stewart’s eyes.

“We’ll take the free press any day, and don’t think there’s not gonna be some Temu products, that say ‘Saliva Temu’ on them. Trust me, dude. We’re gonna embrace it with laughter and fun. [Josey] probably thought he was probably being clever or something, but it’s hilarious, honestly. Like, really? That’s all you got? I mean, come on, bro. Temu version? Our Temu version sounds… Go look at the footage of us playing the songs versus their version. That’s all I gotta say, man. Whatever, dude — O.G. or not.”

Whatever indeed. Will I buy whatever Temu Saliva merch that might come out? You betcha.
