A certified heartbreaker.

Riley Green is back to teasing new music on social media, which is making fans very excited about what’s in store for the next chapter of music. The Alabama native took a brief pause to tease new music right before he dropped the stellar Midtown Sessions acoustic EP. The PE features a collection of fan-favorite songs, including “Change My Mind,” “Worst Way,” “Jesus Saves,” “Cowboy In Me,” as well as a brand-new song called “Bartender In Destin,” and was produced by his friend and frequent collaborator, Erik Dylan.

“Bartender In Destin” is a cute little song about Riley enjoying some time on the beach and falling for a pretty bartender, and it finds him reflecting on that night and how fun it was. It’s a fun summer beach song, and in terms of the content and messaging, it fits right into Riley’s wheelhouse.

However, this new single that Green teased (which also fits into his wheelhouse) feels like it builds off “Bartender In Destin,” showcasing the heartbreaking downfall of that relationship. Given Green captioned the video “She Wrecked Me,” it seems fairly certain that this is the new single’s title, and what a fitting name for the aching lyrics.

In the lyrics, the narrator looks back at all the events in his life that could have ruined him, from a car crash to a career-ending football injury. But out of all those painful events, nothing compares to the earth-shattering heartbreak he experienced from a brown-eyed girl.

“It wasn’t that Chevrolet
In a summer rain
When I took that curb too fast
That busted knee
On a quarterback sweep
When I heard my future crack
But those brown eyes
Category five, blew right down Division Street
And brother, she wrecked me…”

Oh brother, this hurts so good.

Green continues with the lyrics comparing the velocity of their love to a Talladega crash, completely catching him off guard. And he was completely wrecked when she left him. Green sings that this woman left a “hell of a scene” when she left him, leaving him to find comfort in the bottle.

Songwriters often intertwine their own life experiences into lyrics without it being entirely truthful, but given that Green was a former football player and probably spent many nights in a truck on backroads, one can’t help but wonder if the heartbreak he is singing about is in reference to one of his past relationships.

It didn’t take fans long to praise the “Worst Way” singer for this new one, hoping he would gift it to fans sooner rather than later.

“Love waking up in the morning to find gems like this at the top of my feed.”

“Bravo, Riley.”

“Every time you say brown eyes, you give me hope.”

“The grey coming through in the beard, I’m done.”

“Even tho. I have blue eyes.. lol I can not wait for this song to come out.”

“I just love him, he makes my heart and parts move.”

“C’mon, ol’ boy.”

“Such a great song love it.”

“This song hit me like a fast train.”

This is not the only unreleased gem that Green has teased this year. Check out “My Way” before you go.
