Reports: Arsenal set to announce two signings worth £60m this week

Arsenal are preparing to confirm two high-profile additions this week as Mikel Arteta steps up his summer rebuild.

It comes as frustration mounts over lack of further activity at this stage, but deals for Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga are close to completion, with announcements likely this week.

According to BBC Sport, the Gunners are set to finalise the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The 30-year-old, who has a £5m release clause, will arrive to provide strong competition for David Raya. Kepa, once the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, impressed during a recent loan spell at Bournemouth and has agreed to join Arsenal after a successful year on loan at Bournemouth. He has previously acted as a reliable number 2 at Real Madrid, where he won both La Liga and the Champions League.

Kepa’s arrival comes as Arsenal opt against making Neto’s loan move permanent. The Brazilian spent last season at the Emirates on loan from Bournemouth but will not return, leaving space for Kepa to slot in as the new No.2 — or perhaps challenge for the No.1 shirt.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal have completed all formalities for the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Spaniard, long admired by Arteta, has completed his move to London and will be Arsenal’s first confirmed signing of the summer. The fee is reported to be in the region of €64–65 million (£55m), paid in instalments, rather than the slightly lower release clause fee, which would have had to be paid upfront.

Zubimendi, 26, brings composure, intelligence and technical excellence in deep midfield — a long-term solution to strengthen Arsenal’s control and depth in central areas.

His arrival may not be the only one in midfield, with Thomas Partey now looking likely to leave; he will be replaced if he does go. We explored 5 potential Partey replacements.

With both deals expected to be announced imminently, it marks a strong start to the summer window for Arsenal. The club will be keen to add at least one attacker in the coming weeks as the club get ready to kick off pre-season.
