Gonna need a “Fixer Upper” for this one. (That was bad. I’m sorry).
Husband and wife duo Chip and Joanna Gaines have built an impressive brand thanks to their reality show Fixer Upper, which featured the couple helping families find and renovate their dream homes. Their Magnolia brand now features everything from household products like bedding and furniture, to a restaurant and a coffee shop, and even their own media company and television network.
The couple have gained popularity in part thanks to their conservative Christian beliefs, which have also landed them at the center of controversy in the past. Back in 2017, the couple came under fire for appearing in a video with pastor Jimmy Seibert of the Antioch International Movement of Churches, a controversial preacher who has supported conversion therapy and expressed his opposition to homosexuality and gay marriage.
But now, fans who have stood by them during the attacks are accusing Chip and Joanna of “going woke” and abandoning their beliefs with their latest project.
Last week, the couple debuted their latest series Back To The Frontier, a reality show produced by their Magnolia Network, on HBO Max. The show features three couples living on a homestead as 1800s pioneers, with no modern technologies or conveniences. But one of the couples featured is a same-sex couple with two sons, which has upset many of the couple’s Christian fans.
Reverend Franklin Graham took to social media to criticize the decision from Chip and Joanna as “disappointing.”
“I hope this isn’t true, but I read today that Chip and Joanna Gaines are featuring a gay couple in their new series. If It is true, it is very disappointing. While we are to love people, we should love them enough to tell them the truth of God’s Word. His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman. Promoting something that God defines as sin is in itself sin.”
And several fans have accused the couple of “going woke” or committing their “Bud Light moment.”
Chip and Joanna are being “self-righteous.”
They’re saying “look at how loving we are. We’re not ‘hateful bigots’ like those ‘so-called Christians’. We’re much better than them.”
No one more self-righteous than a woke Christian.

Absolutely agree. If Chip and Joanna Gaines do this, they’ve lost all credibility to me. When you sell out to woke, you’re compromised morally.

Throw it all out. Chip and Joanna strayed from Christian values and went woke. Money seems more important to them.

Are Chip and Joanna about to have a Bud Light moment or does this blow over in a couple days?
Thoughts?
