Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Rage Against The Machine has a political view that might piss off some people. In fact, I think it might just piss off Republicans and Democrats at the same time, as the band’s placing the blame for ongoing ICE raids around the country on both political parties.

Through a series of images posted on the band’s Instagram page, Rage Against The Machine outlined how years of militarizing the American police force, which includes both Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has led to what we’ve been seeing in the news these last few weeks — heavily armed and masked “officers” rolling up on individuals believed to be undocumented immigrants and disappearing them in broad daylight.

In many cases, people who get snatched up by ICE or CBP are usually unable to reach out to their loved ones to let them know what happened. As a result, news has spread of kids not knowing if they’ll ever see their parents again or whether a loved one is even in the country anymore, since some have been deported without due process. Some cases have seen American citizens getting caught up in the dragnet and no one knows where they’ve been taken.

Rage Against the Machine’s statement on the ongoing crisis is as follows:

“In the U.S., both major parties are responsible for the militarized border policies that target and criminalize migrants and refugees.

“Both wage wars and impose destructive economic policies that directly result in the migration of people seeking safety and asylum.

“After 9/11, the budget for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rose by almost 300%.

“This has intensified the racist terror for communities already suffering through family separation, detention, deportation, and the use of “digital prisons” via electronic monitoring.

“No government on stolen land should have the power to decide who is “legal” and who is “illegal,” or who lives and who dies.”

Honestly, try to find the lies in their statement. Sure, we’ve seen Republican presidents saber rattling against immigrant populations within the U.S., but it was under Bill Clinton that Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 that billions of dollars pumped into law enforcement led to agencies seeking heavier armaments. Sure, it was under George W. Bush that police were given the green light to purchase surplus military equipment to deploy in civilian environments, but Obama didn’t exactly slow that process down at all, either…
