Post Malone’s Next Album Will Be WAY More Traditional Country Than ‘F-1 Trillion’: “More Fiddle, Pedal Steel, Guitar Solos”

Last year, Post Malone went country with his F-1 Trillion record. Of all the artists outside of genre that have tested the waters of country music, Post Malone arguably had the most crossover appeal.

And that was made evident by the response to his debut country project, which debuted at No. 1 on the charts upon its release, and was even nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammy Awards.

But the F-1 Trillion dollar question now almost a year removed from Posty officially going country is… will the pop-star stay country?

Considering the overwhelming success of his country record, which featured songs like “I Had Some Help” and “Losers,” and the fact that his F-1 Trillion Tour and his Big A** Stadium Tour (that Malone is currently on with Jelly Roll) have had fans flocking to stadiums, it might be smart for Post Malone to stick around – at least financially speaking.

Though money will always be a main driver when it comes to decision making in the entertainment industry, Post Malone seems to be approaching his country era with a lot of respect for the genre as a whole. In a recent interview with The Tennessean, the 29-year-old spoke on that when discussing how he’s carefully treated his venture into country music, and appreciated the acceptance he’s received:

“I want to make sure I do things with respect. I feel honored that everyone has been accepting and patient with me.”

That mindset right there is why country music fans have welcomed Post Malone in with open arms.

Another reason for Post’s wide acceptance is his love for the epicenter of country music: Nashville, Tennessee. The pop-star-turned-country-artist has even announced that he’s opening up a bar in Music City’s downtown, and that’s basically like planting a flag in the country music world. But his love for Nashville runs deep, mainly because the city has meant so much to his creative process during his time exploring country. Between his love for the genre and love for Music City, why would he just put out one country record and then – for a lack of a better term – dip?

Well… he isn’t. In fact, he’s going MORE country.

Guitar player extraordinaire and producer Derek Wells says this next project will feature Post Malone stepping WAY over the line between pop music and country music… deep into the heart of countryland where he’s channeling some George Jones and ’80s George Strait. Wells confesses:

“There’s also more fiddle, pedal steel, guitar solos. Where we started as two feet over the line into traditional country on ‘F-1 Trillion’ has turned into head, chest, shoulders and feet across the line on where we’re headed with the next batch of songs.”

I don’t know about you, but Post Malone has looked pretty damn happy to me since he went country, and he’s only digging in even more. A while back, Ed Sheeran said that he would probably move to Nashville someday, make a country album and never go back to pop, and it sounds like Post Malone might have beat him there. I’m not mad at it.

I’d guess shooting a music video on Broadway with Luke Combs brings about some creative joy, no?
