Orbit Culture to Release ‘Death Above Life’ This October, Title Track Now Streaming

The Swedes of Orbit Culture are back with a new single “Death Above Life” and the announcement of a new album of the same name. Set for release on October 3 via Century Media Records, it will be their first full-length offering since 2023’s Descent.ddd

About a month ago the band released “The Tales Of War” without revealing any details about their forthcoming album, but this time around we’ve know way more about the band’s plans moving forward. Featuring 10 brand new tracks, Death Above Life is described by guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Niklas Karlsson as a sort of renaissance for the band.

“The album represents change, a new beginning. It brings up a lot of good and bad emotions but it’s a big change for the better. It feels like a rebirth.”

Along with the release of the song’s accompanying music video, the band explained what went into the track and the meaning behind its lyrical content.

“Our next song is the title track of the album — ‘Death Above Life.’ While the first single, ‘The Tales Of War,’ acted as a bridge to the next chapter, this one kicks the doors wide open. It’s darker, heavier, and leans into a more horror-driven side of Orbit Culture.

“Lyrically, it reflects a choice: When faced with the idea of continuing down a path surrounded by the wrong people, we sometimes know that we have to cut ties. It is not literally about choosing death but walking away from what is holding us back. ‘Death Above Life’ is about letting go of what no longer fits to make space for something real. It will see the light of day for the very first time at Download Festival.”
