Noel Gallagher reserves special hatred for one Premier League club
Noel Gallagher has revealed he would rather see Liverpool win the Premier League title than Arsenal, because he ‘hates’ the Gunners. The Oasis star has seen his beloved Manchester City go toe-to-toe with both teams in the title race in recent years, with another blockbuster clash just around the corner. Arsenal and City will lock horns on Sunday, with Pep Guardiola’s side hoping to build on their strong 2-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League. In the Premier League, the north Londoners have three wins from four, while the Citizens are sitting on two wins and two defeats. But with Liverpool three points clear at the league summit with a 100 per cent record, a win already feels a must for either side if they are to keep pace with the champions. Mikel Arteta’s side will be desperate to win, having invested heavily in the summer as they look to go one further than in previous years. The Gunners have recorded three consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League, twice as runner-up to City, before losing out to Liverpool last term. ‘I hate Arsenal’ Despite the Citizens’ past dominance, Gallagher expects a two-horse race this season – without his club involved. But fans might have been surprised to discover which of the two the proud Mancunian hopes to see come out on top. Speaking to talkSPORT Drive, the music icon said: “Who do I want to win out of the two? “Liverpool – I hate Arsenal. And, for the record, I hate Liverpool too.” While Gallagher may begrudgingly have given the Reds his backing, it wasn’t a glowing endorsement, as he admitted he would sooner see both sides miss out on glory. And they tend to be bad winners, as well as bad losers. “So it’s a toss-up really. Liverpool have been tipped to win back-to-back Premier League titles Their latest heroics came in a 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, with Virgil van Dijk heading home the decisive goal in injury-time.
