Landman on Landman? Let’s make it happen.

By now you’ve probably heard that the first season of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman was a massive hit for Paramount+. The cast, made up of talented actors and actresses like Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, and Demi Moore, shined in the inaugural run of the series, and filming for season two wrapped up not too long ago. The Season 2 premiere has a confirmed release date of Sunday, November 16.

That’s the beautiful thing about Taylor Sheridan shows – they stay on a tight, continuous release schedule. While some other shows wait years before their seasons, the mind behind Yellowstone takes pride in releasing one season per year. The second season of Landman is set to release almost exactly a year after the show’s first season (it aired on November 17, 2024).

Fans of the show can only hope that Landman‘s second season delivers as many memorable moments as the first. It seemed like every week, another clip from the show was going viral online. And I imagine that the addition of actors Andy Garcia (who will play a cartel boss) and Sam Elliot (who will play the father of Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris) can only help elevate the hit series to the next level… and raise the stakes even higher.

There’s surely going to be some other cameos in season two that steal the show like Jerry Jones did with his cameo in season one. In fact, I could see a world where the series goes for a shocking, unexpected cameo in every season of the series. Who knows who that might be in the second season… but there’s already one candidate for season three that’s very intriguing. Though it’s one of those things that seems too good to be true, there’s a scenario where the universe of Landman has room for another cameo from the world of football.

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Nate Landman.

The 26-year-old Zimbabwean-American football player has been on fire to open the season for the Rams. He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his stellar performance in the opening game of the year, and fans and analysts were raving about his perfected “peanut punching” of the football. He’s also been credited with 18 total tackles through the first two contests (almost a Rams record), which has pushed him into the spotlight a bit more.

And because of that spotlight, Landman was even asked by the NFL on CBS if he would have any interest in a cameo in Taylor Sheridan’s Landman series. The NFL football player answered as if he had been waiting for someone to ask him that very question:

“I’d love that. I love the show too. I’m excited for the second season to come out. Definitely put that word in for me.”

Considering there was a good amount of football – or at least scenes that were adjacent to football happening – in the show’s first season… I feel like Nate Landman could easily be worked into the third season. Maybe he could play a football coach? Or a really mature high school football player?

The possibilities are really endless, and until Nate Landman gets the call to star in the hit Paramount+ TV series, he’ll just have to continue to starring as a hard-nosed linebacker in the NFL.
