Weather wasn’t cooperating with the NFL’s opener.
This might as well be an advertisement for putting domes over all football stadium. Like many others, I’m a fan of the elements playing a role in the game… as long as they don’t delay the game. The first game of the 2025 NFL season between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles was off to a hot start.
That is until some severe weather moved into the area of Philly’s Lincoln Financial Field, and the threat of lightning caused officials to suspend the contest.
It’s truly a shame, because the game was a) very entertaining and b) moving at a great pace. But mother nature had other ideas, and rolled a thunderstorm right towards the site of the 2025 NFL season’s inaugural game:
What’s worse? The NFL suspended play around 10:30 EST, and quickly communicated that the game would likely be able to restart around 11:30 EST (weather was forecasted to move out of the area around 11:15, and then players would be given 15 minutes to warm up). To make a long point shorter… that pushes the end of the Cowboys-Eagles game way past people’s bedtimes.
And considering NFL fans waited six months for the glorious sport to return, they weren’t handling the delay all that gracefully. Is keeping everyone at Lincoln Financial Field safe from severe weather the priority? Of course it is. But does it suck big time that the NFL’s first game back got delayed by a rogue thunderstorm? You bet it does.
And NFL fans are taking to social media to take their anger and frustration out:

The NFL is in a lightning delay. That’s the most woke thing I’ve ever heard of.
