Fresh off spending his 12th nonconsecutive week at #1 with I’m The Problem en route to becoming the artist with the eighth most total weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200, Morgan Wallen has continued his domination of yet another Billboard chart this week — this time on their yearly Songs of the Summer ranking.
In case you’re unfamiliar with their methodology behind their Songs of the Summer chart, Billboard tracks a song’s performance on its Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year using charts dated June 7 through September 6). It should also be noted that songs that appeared on 2024’s Songs of the Summer chart or peaked on the Hot 100 before summer 2024 were not eligible to appear, meaning songs like “I Had Some Help” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” were not eligible to reappear despite their continued dominance on the charts.
If you recall, the Tennessee native became the first artist in 46 years last summer to have Billboard’s Song of the Summer two years in a row with “Last Night” and his feature on Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” being crowned #1 in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Unfortunately for Wallen, his bid for three straight years atop the chart was thwarted by the success of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which was just named 2025’s Song of the Summer due to its 10 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. With that being said, however, it still didn’t keep the “Whiskey Glasses ” singer from setting a record on the chart.
With three of I’m The Problem’s top hits, “Just In Case,” “What I Want” (featuring Tate McRae) and the title track, all sitting inside the Top 5 (#2-4), Wallen became the first artist ever with three Top 5 entries on the finalized Songs of the Summer Chart.
The full Top 10 list is as follows:
- “Ordinary” – Alex Warren
- “What I Want” – Morgan Wallen ft. Tate McRae
- “Just In Case” – Morgan Wallen
- “I’m The Problem” – Morgan Wallen
- “Luther” – Kendrick Lamar & SZA
- “Die With a Smile” – Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars
- “Golden” – HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI AMI
- “Pink Pony Club” – Chappell Roan
- “Manchild” – Sabrina Carpenter
- “Love Me Not” – Ravyn Lenae
Further diving into “What I Want’s” success, it drew in the most official U.S. streams in the summer tracking period with a staggering 298 million across platforms, according to Luminate. Keep in mind, this doesn’t count its streams during its first month upon its initial May 16th release.
Overall, this shouldn’t come as a surprise in the slightest. Beyond the aforementioned dominance on the Billboard 200, Wallen also broke his own record with 37 separate songs charted on the Billboard 100 upon I’m The Problem’s release. Couple that with other nods such as most-played artist on TouchTunes this year, the first artist ever to spend at least 10 weeks at #1 with three consecutive albums and more, it’s Wallen’s world while we’re simply living in it.
