It’s only been a few days since the tragic private plane crash that took six lives happened in San Diego. Initially all we really knew was that the plane, which had heavyweight music agent Dave Shapiro, 42, and former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada Daniel Williams, 39, onboard, crashed into a neighborhood near the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport it was intending to land at. Now, we’ve got a little bit more info about who else was tragically lost, as well as more factors that likely contributed to the crash in the first place.

Although it has yet to be revealed whether or not Shapiro was flying the Cessna 550 Citation, it was registered to him and his Alaska-based company Daviator LLC. The plane crashed around 4 AM after hitting some power lines in dense fog, just two miles from its destination. Investigators are now saying that along with the heavy fog and faulty weather alert system, a NOTAM (notice to airmen) from that night says the runway lights at the airport were not on. LiveATC recordings from them caught the pilot addressing the low visibility yet deciding to “give it a go” anyway. You can hear the exchange between the airport tower and Shapiro below.

While no one on the ground was badly injured, all six of the plane’s passengers passed away. Two of them—Kendall Forter, 24 and Emma Huke, 25— worked for Sound Talent Group, Shapiro’s agency responsible for major artists like Pierce the Veil, Parkway Drive, Sum 41, and even Vanessa Carlton. Celina Marie Rose Kenyon, a 36-year-old photographer and mother who was close to everyone on the plane, only took the flight because she wanted to make it back in time to take her daughter to school in the morning. The last of the fallen, 41-year-old Dominic Christopher Damian, was a well-known and -respected martial artist in the area.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and could take over a year to complete, according to officials. Needless to say, nothing will be the same. Not just for punk, hardcore, and emo music, but for the families and friends of everyone involved.
