Miranda Lambert Shares Touching Tribute Following The Loss Of Another Pet, Her Beloved Dog, Cher

A tough weekend for Miranda Lambert.

Today, she shared the unfortunate news that she has sadly had to say goodbye to one of her beloved dogs, Cher, a chihuahua she’s had for 15 years. Just last month, Miranda lost her two mini horses Sugar Pie and Adrianna, which she’d had for 18 years, so it’s no doubt been a hard holiday season for her considering how much she loves her animals.

Miranda is a huge advocate for rescuing animals of any kind, and has an entire charity dedicated to furthering that mission called MuttNation, which is a cause very near and dear to her heart.

In the post, she explained that she adopted Cher from a shelter when she was 10 weeks old in 2010, and she also took her to the ACM Awards not long after that, where her stylist made sure she matched Cher so they could both go on the red carpet.

Miranda also said that she had taken Cher on every tour she’s been on since she adopted her, and it’s obvious just how much she meant to Miranda.

Like I said, Miranda has lost several pets just in the last couple months, and she pointed out that when she met her husband Brendan seven years ago, she had nine rescue dogs, and now she is down to just one, so it’s been a tough go for her family:

“Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. Cher gave us 15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give. And if you have ever had a chi chi you know what I mean. I adopted her from a shelter when she was 10 weeks old in 2010.

I put her in my overalls pocket at the shelter and that was it! Her first big trip was to the ACM awards in Las Vegas. Tiffany Gifford matched my dress to her so I could take her on the red carpet. And I won that year so she did the whole press room with me. Like she has been doing it her whole life.

She was on every tour I have done since. Thank you to her sweet soul for all the road miles she traveled. I was a rescue dog mom of 9 when I met Brendan 7 years ago, and now we are down to one. (Last slide of Bellamy and Cher ).

We sure are ready for a break from the heartbreak y’all, but they are worth every tear we have cried. Animals bring so much joy but I sure do wish dog years didn’t go by so fast. Rescue’s forever.”

I’m sure a lot of us know the pain of losing a pet, and really, it just freaking sucks… and losing so many so close together has got to be so incredibly difficult. She talks often about how much she loves all of her pets, which includes several dogs, cats, horses, and mini horses, as well as goats and chickens and probably some we don’t even know of out on her farm.

Each one she adopts becomes like a family member to her, and she shared some really cute photos of her with Cher over the years, including one from the aforementioned ACM Awards with their matching colors:
