New music coming soon?
Miranda Lambert released her most recent studio album Postcards From Texas in 2024, which was a 14-song tracklist steeped in Texas influence and that classic country sound shaped by greats like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, and puts Miranda’s honky tonk, beer joint roots on full display.
Produced by Miranda along with her longtime friend and frequent collaborator Jon Randall, they recorded everything at Austin’s legendary Arlyn Recording Studios, and it’s Miranda’s first album released with new record label, Republic, which she signed with this year after 20 years with former longtime label Sony.
Since then, she put out a great single with Chris Stapleton, and has been on tour with Morgan Wallen, but it sounds like she might be working on a new project too. In a recent interview with Country Living, Miranda said that she’s been writing and living so she has new content, so to speak, for whenever the next album is ready to be put together:
“I’m pretty much always creating; it just looks different depending on where I am in the process. Sometimes, I’m just living my life, so that I have something to write about when I come back to the music. I’ve been writing with some friends in Nashville, too. I always let the music guide where I’m going next, and trust the process.”
Music to my ears… quite literally.
In addition to her work as a solo artist, Miranda is a partner at newly-established label Big Loud Texas, where she helps support younger artists who are just getting started on this journey she’s been on for over 20 years now:
“We are still at the beginning of that journey, and I am loving that I can be a part of mentoring artists and supporting them. Since I have been through this experience myself, I know all the different stages of building a career, which puts me in a good position to be helpful to our Big Loud Texas artists on their own path.
I have always let music lead, and I know that it’s also important to be commercially successful if you want to be around for a long time, so I hope I can help them balance that.”
And when it comes to touring with Wallen, the biggest act in the game right now, Miranda says it’s been great and she’s loved the opportunity to be his direct support:
“Being on his tour has been really great so far, and I’ve been enjoying watching Morgan in his element. His show is extremely high energy, and his fan base knows all the words to all his songs—it’s definitely his time. I am a fan of Morgan and his music.
I have been touring for a long time and love the opportunity to perform for [his] audience and hopefully gain some new fans that are not familiar with my music.”
She’s certainly been busy, but the most important thing she’ll do with her career is coming up soon, as she, along with fellow Texan Parker McCollum, have put together a massive benefit for the Texas hill country that was ravaged by the recent tragic flood. Band Together Texas, a star-studded benefit concert slated to take place on Sunday, August 17th at the Moody Center in Austin, benefiting The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, the leading charity behind the ongoing flood relief efforts, and Central Texas Community Foundation.
The show will feature the Lone Star States best talent, including Lambert in McCollum, in addition to performances by Ryan Bingham, Wade Bowen, Kelly Clarkson, Ronnie Dunn, Dylan Gossett, Jack Ingram, Cody Johnson, Lyle Lovett, Lukas Nelson, Jon Randall and Randy Rogers Band.
Other very famous performers will take the stage throughout the evening, including Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid, former UT Longhorns coach Mack Brown and players Emmanual Acho, Colt McCoy and Vince Young, MLB star and Houston native Roger Clemens plus television host and Dallas native Chris Harrison, with more to be announced.
