Mikel Arteta hints at more signings following Bilbao win

Mikel Arteta has suggested that Arsenal’s summer transfer business is far from over following the team’s 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Speaking after the match, Arteta said: “Let’s see what happens in terms of where the squad is in a few weeks. We are actively looking at options as well as a few players having to leave.”

The Gunners have already been one of the most active Premier League sides in the transfer market this summer. Key arrivals include Viktor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga — a mix of big-money signings and shrewd additions aimed at boosting both depth and quality.

On the other side, Arsenal have waved goodbye to several familiar faces. Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu have all left the club, with further departures expected before the window closes. Arteta’s latest comments hint that there could be more than one exit in the coming weeks, as well as the possibility of further reinforcements.

The likes of Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira feel like key departures to open the door to more arrivals, and the duo have been tipped to move to Fulham and Stuttgart respectively, but Andrea Berta is keen to get the best deal possible.

The club have been linked with a number of potential signings in recent days, including Eberechi Eze and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, as Arsenal look to add even more attacking threat. Berta, the man leading the club’s transfer strategy, is understood to be exploring options across multiple positions, ensuring the squad is well-balanced for a season where Arsenal will again be competing on multiple fronts.

With the Premier League season just around the corner, Arteta appears keen to keep his cards close to his chest. However, the message is clear — Arsenal’s transfer work is not yet done. Supporters can expect both arrivals and departures in what promises to be a busy end to the window.
