Manchester City have accepted a series of sanctions from the Premier League for rule breaches. A statement from the Premier League read: “The Premier League and Manchester City FC have entered into a sanction agreement after the club accepted it had breached Premier League Rule L.33 in relation to kick-off and restart obligations. “The breaches occurred in nine Premier League matches during the 2024/25 season. “Rules relating to kick-offs and re-starts help ensure the organisation of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs. “It also ensures the broadcast of every Premier League match is kept to schedule.” Rule L.33 states that clubs will be sanctioned if they delay either kick-off or the restart after half time without good reason. The Premier League found that City had delayed the kick-off to their home match against Tottenham on November 23 by one minute and 38 seconds. Prior to that meeting at the Etihad Stadium, Rodri had been presented with the Ballon d’Or trophy on the pitch. Ahead of kick-off, the Spaniard walked out onto the pitch to parade the award in front of the crowd. The midfielder also received a guard of honour from his teammates. A hearing into the alleged breaches concluded in December, with the decision yet to be announced.
