Lukas Nelson & Sierra Ferrell Deliver Beautiful Cover Of The Doors’ Hit, “People Are Strange”

Just perfection.

Lukas Nelson shared an acoustic cover of the Doors hit song “People Are Strange” with the incredibly talented Sierra Ferrell, and I can’t get enough. They’re good friends, and have performed and recorded songs together before, and it never gets old.

For my money, they’re two of the most talented artists in country music right now, and each of them have such an effortless talent when it comes to both singing and songwriting that I don’t think compares to anyone else.

Of course, “People Are Strange” was included on The Doors’ second studio album Strange Days, and released in September of 1967. It was written by the Doors’ vocalist Jim Morrison and guitarist Robby Krieger, although all of the band are credited on the sleeve notes as writers. It was a success at radio too, as it peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

I honestly don’t think there’s a song these two couldn’t do justice and then some, and I would love for them to do some kind of bigger project together one day. They’re a natural fit and this is just so cool:

In addition to this cover, they released a studio cut of  Adele’s mega hit “Someone Like You,” which they put a really cool bluegrass spin on and were backed by The Travelin’ McCoury’s.

I haven’t been able to stop listening to that one either, and if you haven’t heard it yet, you’re missing out:

More recently, Lukas included a duet with Sierra on his debut solo album American Romance called “Friend in the End.”

The entire record is superb, and this one is certainly a standout among a stacked tracklist which features another other great artist in Stephen Wilson Jr.:

AMERICAN ROMANCE TRACKLIST:

1. Ain’t Done
2. Pretty Much
3. Make You Happy
4. Outsmarted
5. Disappearing Light (with Stephen Wilson Jr.)
6. Born Runnin’ Outta Time
7. All God Did
8. Montana
9. Friend in the End (feat. Sierra Ferrell)
10. The Lie
11. American Romance
12. You Were It

If he’ll be anywhere near you in this latter half of 2025, Lukas’ live shows are incredible and I’d highly recommend getting to one if you can.
