Lost Dog Street Band Announces Indefinite Hiatus, But For A Good Reason

The Lost Dog Street Band released a live album today, but sadly, it will be the last new project from the band for the foreseeable future.

Dating back to the release of their debut albumSick Pup, in 2011, the Lost Dog Street Band has released eight albums (nine, if you include their most recent live record) in addition to Tod’s solo records, making them a prolific music-making machine over the last 14 years.

Releasing well-received, authentic country music at a rate few other artists, if any, have been able to maintain over the same period, Tod has established himself as a mainstay at the top of non-mainstream country music. In 2022, Tod announced that he and the Lost Dog Street Band planned to stop touring after their 2022 shows; however, he showed no signs of slowing down in writing and recording.

While that statement was short-lived, after the release of their 2024 record Survived, Tod and Lost Dog Street Band hit the road again, touring and showcasing their talent on stage all over the nation.

However, based on the band’s recent announcement again saying the group is taking a hiatus, it appears this time it’s more permanent. Tod and his wife, Ashley Mae, sat in front of the camera to explain to their fans why the group will no longer be touring or making music for the foreseeable future.

“Howdy folks, Benjamin Tod here. Tonight at midnight, we will be dropping a live album with the Lost Dog from the Ogden Theater in Denver, Colorado. It will be the last release with the Lost Dog Street Band, which will be going on hiatus because…”

Tod points to his lovely bride, who then pulls out ultrasound images from behind her.

“We’re having a baby!”

Ashley Mae shared excitedly.

“It’s been in the works for a long time. It’s something that has been heavy on both of our souls the past few years; it’s a dream come true. We’re very, very thankful and blessed.”

Tod adds.

While the Lost Dog Street Band might be taking a break, have no fear because Benjamin Tod is continuing to tour and make music with quite a bit in the pipeline.

“Beyond that, I will start touring in 2026 under Benjamin Tod and the Inline Six with a hotter than piss honky tonk crew. And Ashley Mae will keep the home fires burning. So we’ll see y’all out there.”

Tod has also shared on Instagram that he’s already cut a songwriter record this year, is in the studio working on a honky tonk record with Shooter Jennings, and is slated to do a classic country record at the end of the year. So, there is plenty of new music in the works from Tod.

While it’s sad to think that Lost Dog Street Band will no longer be creating music together, it is for good reason, and I’m over the moon for Tod and Ashley Mae in this chapter of their lives. This kid will have some cool parents…

In the meantime, check out Live From A Mile High. It’s a stellar live record and captures the magic this group creates each time they hit the stage together.
