The nightmare of every SEC football head coach who is also raising a daughter.
Granted, this is somewhat of a specific nightmare to have, but it’s Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s nightmare nonetheless. If you don’t know much about Kiffin, that’s your own fault. The Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin is one of the more outspoken personalities in all of college football – especially when it comes to banter on social media. It’s kind of difficult to have never heard of him.
Not only is he a damn good football coach (he’s one of many football minds from the Nick Saban coaching tree), the Ole Miss head coach is a pretty entertaining guy off the field. Kiffin has been coaching the Ole Miss Rebels since 2020, and he’s done a solid job down in Oxford, Mississippi. His team has been to four straight bowl games, including two New Year’s Six appearances.
That’s a pretty respectable run, especially in the heavyweight Southeastern Conference. And in 2025, he’s got his team off to a hot start: 2-0 in the SEC, and 4-0 overall on the year.
Though he’s a great coach, Lane Kiffin remains a polarizing figure in college football. It’s hard to put a finger on why, though his outspokenness about whatever is on his mind probably has something to do with it. You can’t stop Lane Kiffin… you can only hope to contain him. And I’m not even talking about his traditionally high-flying offense.
Take this very sticky situation, for example.
One of Lane Kiffin’s daughters, Landry, announced earlier this month that she was talking to LSU Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks. Back on September 9, the oldest of Kiffin’s children posted a video on TikTok sharing that she was attending an LSU game to watch Weeks play:

And fast forward to this week, Landry Kiffin hard launched her relationship with Whit Weeks by including him in one of her Instagram posts. Depending on how you look at it, the timing couldn’t be better or worse. That’s because this weekend, the LSU Tigers take on the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi.
Suddenly, it’s a house divided situation, as this social media user pointed out:
“Landry Kiffin announcing her relationship with an LSU linebacker the week of game day is a crazy move. The Kiffin household must be in shambles. Wreaks of one thing: the over.”
Notice that “Mikey O’ver” suggested that fans should take the over on the total score for the game, assuming that Lane Kiffin would be trying to score a bunch of points against the team who now features the boyfriend of his eldest daughter. And remember how I said Lane Kiffin is one of the most outspoken figures in all of college sports? We don’t have to assume what he’s thinking about the situation anymore.
He let us know that we should, in fact, take the over:
“Take the over.”

This LSU-Ole Miss ranked matchup was already intriguing, but it somehow just got a lot more interesting. Will Ole Miss use his daughter dating an LSU player as bulletin board material? Will Ole Miss try to run up the score on LSU? Will Kiffin shake the hand of his daughter’s boyfriend before or after the game?
Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure… college football is the best. The post Lane Kiffin Tells Fans To “Take The Over” After His Daughter, Landry, Hard-Launches Relationship With LSU Linebacker The Week Of Ole Miss Matchup first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
