Headed to the big screen.
It was announced last month that country star Lainey Wilson would be part of the cast of the Universal adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s hit novel Reminders of Him. She joins the cast of Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, and Nicholas Duvernay for her feature film debut.
Reminders of Him became a best-selling novel for Colleen Hoover, published in 2022 and selling over 6.5 million copies. The story follows Kenna Rowan (Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a mistake she made. Rowan knows that she will have to make amends with many people to earn their forgiveness for her past, and the story follows her as she mends those relationships and hopes to reconnect with her daughter. Variety notes that the film is described as a “transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.”
Vanessa Caswill is set to direct Reminders of Him, and Hoover wrote the screenplay with Lauren Levine. Hoover and Levine are also producing the film through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment. Gina Matthews is producing through her Little Engine Productions, and Robin Fisichella is executive producing. Christine Sun has been named director of production development, overseeing the project.
Of course, Lainey is no stranger to acting at this point, as she had a pretty big role in the hit Taylor Sheridan show Yellowstone, and her character, Abby, was also a musician, and the role was created specifically for her, so it was a great way for her to dip her toes in the acting world, so to speak.
This movie promises to be a huge box office hit as Hoover books are extremely popular right now, and had it not been for all the drama between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, I think it would’ve been even bigger, but I digress…
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lainey said that she already filmed her part, and she’s excited to branch out into a very different type of role:
“We did, we already did. I’m done with my part. This is the first role that I’ve got to do where I wasn’t a musician. It was so much fun. After I did ‘Yellowstone,’ I was like alright, what’s next? And for me the next thing was playing a role that was not a musician.”
When asked if she was nervous about it, seeing as this is a huge, major motion picture, Lainey admitted that, surprisingly, she wasn’t nervous at all. She added that it was “probably [her] mama’s prayers” that helped calm her nerves, and she went into the project with a new sense of confidence this time around:
“You know what, I was not really that nervous, which is really surprising. It’s probably my mamas prayers. But I felt like, alright, you know, they called me about the opportunity and trusted me with this so I guess it’s time for me to trust myself too.”
I just love her… and I’m sure she’s amazing in her role, so I’m excited to see this movie when it comes out, even though I’ve never read any of Hoover’s books and don’t really know anything about Reminders Of Him. If Lainey gives it her stamp of approval, I’m in.

The movie is currently set to hit theaters on February 13th, 2026, though Lainey will remain very busy for the rest of this year, as she is currently out on the road for her extensive Whirlwind tour.
