Modeling her career after two legends.
Lainey Wilson is a woman of many talents. The two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year is an electric performer, lighting up the stage every night with her high-energy, engaging performances. The Louisiana native knows the definition of hard work, living in a camper in her friend’s front yard in Nashville before making it big. She knows that chasing your dreams does not always look glamorous, but she knows that hard work gets you places, and she kept her nose to the grindstone to get where she is today.
While the “Country’s Cool Again” singer has been on the road nonstop, pushing out her new music from her latest project, Whirlwind, she’s now ready to spread her wings beyond singing and is venturing deeper into the world of acting.
Lainey Wilson is no stranger to being on set for a scripted show, as she made her acting debut on the hit Taylor Sheridan show, Yellowstone. Wilson’s character, Abby, embodied many of her real-life characteristics, as she was a musician trying to find love while juggling life on the road. Taylor Sheridan confessed that much like Ryan Bingham’s character Walker, the role was made specifically for Wilson, and was the perfect way for her to dip her toe into the acting sphere.

But now Wilson is delving deep and has scored her first role in a feature film, the Universal adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s hit novel “Reminders of Him.”
“Reminders of Him” became a best-selling novel for Colleen Hoover, published in 2022 and selling over 6.5 million copies. The story follows Kenna Rowan (Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a mistake she made. Rowan knows that she will have to make amends with many people to earn their forgiveness for her past, and the story follows her as she mends those relationships and hopes to reconnect with her daughter. Variety notes that the film is described as a “transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness, and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.”
Wilson will join the cast of Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, and Nicholas Duvernay for her feature film debut.
While some fans are loving that she is spreading her wings and trying new things in the entertainment industry, there are also some wondering what this means for her music career. But have no fear, Wilson does not plan on abandoning country music by any means.
Ahead of Wilson’s powerful “Go Rest High On That Mountain” performance with Vince Gill during the Emmys’ In Memoriam segment, she spoke to Entertainment Tonight about balancing music and her newfound love for acting.
“The truth is, I never really thought I’d ever be acting, but it’s just something that I feel like my storytelling has kind of led to, and these doors have opened, and I am all about taking opportunity.
You know, when I think about the kind of artist I want to be, I think about people like Reba and Dolly Parton and the ones that always kept music at the forefront, but they weren’t scared to kind of color outside of the lines.”
Those are two stellar role models to look up to. The Happy’s Place star, Reba, was also on the Emmy red carpet and has her hands in many business ventures outside of country music, like being a coach on The Voice. Dolly Parton, as well, has acted in quite a few projects like Joyful Noise, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, 9 to 5, and more.
However, despite getting involved with numerous business ventures and projects outside of country music, at their core, they are a country artist and remain constantly engaged with industry events and more.
Lainey Wilson will still be rocking her bell-bottoms on stage and leaving us in awe on the big screen. She’s got a game plan in action.
