The extension will see the 54-year-old remain in charge until the end of his 11th season at the club. And Guardiola has now revealed it has already been decided when he will leave. Speaking to GQ, he explained: “I know that after this stage with City I’m going to stop, that’s for sure, it’s decided, more than decided. “I’m going to leave after this stage with City, because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body.” It is not clear what Guardiola meant by ‘this stage’ – whether that is the 2025/26 campaign or the remaining two seasons on his contract. Guardiola took over as City boss back in 2016 and has since won 18 trophies including six Premier League titles and the treble. He continued: “I think I know how to stop at the right moment. “The same thing happened to me with my coaching job [at Barcelona], there came a time when I said enough is enough. I’m going to look for another challenge.” His previous spells with Barcelona and Bayern Munich lasted four and three years, respectively.
