How you gonna do Hulk like that?

Wrestling star and media personality Hulk Hogan passed away back on July 24 at 71-years-old after suffering a heart attack at his Clearwater, Florida home. And there were plenty of tributes that poured in after his death from the millions of Americans who grew up watching Hulk (whose real name was Terry Bollea) either in the WWF/WWE or, if you didn’t watch wrestling, in any of the numerous cameos he made in movies or TV shows.

Hulk’s popularity extended well beyond wrestling, which is why it was a little confusing that the crossover star was left out of the annual “In Memoriam” segment during this year’s Emmy Awards this past Sunday.

The segment featured an incredible performance of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” from Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson while paying tribute to many of the other names we’ve lost this year, like Loni Anderson, Alan Bergman,  Julian McMahon, Quincy Jones, David Lynch, Ozzy Osbourne, Maggie Smith, Michelle Trachtenberg, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and many more.

But Hulk wasn’t included in the segment, either the version that was aired on television or the online version. And his ex-wife, Linda Hogan, thinks she knows why.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Linda expressed her frustration with the awards show for snubbing her husband, and revealed her suspicion that it’s because he endorsed President Donald Trump during the 2024 election while becoming more outspoken about his conservative beliefs in recent years:

“I can’t prove that. It’s just a guess, but they should have named him!”

And she pointed to Hulk’s success on television as more than deserving of recognition:

“WWF at the top of the hour when he came on to wrestle…[Hulk] had the highest ratings on NBC, beating all other competition for that time slot for years!

I really can’t tell you why they left him out…just a guess considering the way he was treated at his last appearance in LA.”

Of course Hulk gave an enthusiastic speech in support of then-candidate Trump during the 2024 Republican National Convention, and after the wrestler passed away President Trump paid tribute to him in a post on Truth Social:

“We lost a great friend today, the “Hulkster.” Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!”

The annual awards show, of course, featured plenty of virtue-signaling to the largely left-leaning crowd, including “F*** ICE, free Palestine!” in an acceptance speech, and the recently axed late night host, Stephen Colbert, getting a standing ovation after the left blamed Trump for his cancelation. So if Hulk was indeed left out of the segment due to his politics, it wouldn’t really be a surprise coming from that group.

A disappointment? Definitely. A surprise? At this point, not at all.The post Hulk Hogan’s Ex-Wife Slams The Emmy Awards For Leaving Him Out Of Their ‘In Memoriam’ Segment Due To His Politics first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
