Better hope they don’t break up now.

Taylor Swift fans are obviously a different breed. (That’s my nice way of saying they’re absolutely insane). There isn’t a fanbase in music who’s more obsessed with somebody, and not just her music but maybe even more so her personal life – to the point that these people seem to think they’re actually friends with her.

Obviously these days much of the obsession is surrounding her relationship with star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two went public together back in 2023, and since then fans have closely followed their every move, quick to chime in with their own opinions on the power couple and their relationship.

So it shouldn’t be any surprise that there are Swifties out there who are even naming their babies after the celebrity couple.

Liberty Hospital in Kansas City recently shared a photo of a newborn baby who was named – you guessed it – Kelce Taylor, after Travis and Taylor.

But surprisingly, the Chiefs fans actually first locked in on the name for their daughter because of the tight end and not the pop superstar.

During an interview with the Today Show, the mother admits that she really didn’t start to become a Swiftie until after she began dating Kelce – and that the baby’s middle name, Taylor-Grace, is actually a not to another Chiefs great, former tight end and current NFL analyst Tony Gonzalez.

Of course naming your baby after a couple has its risks: What if they break up? (Not that Taylor is notorious for having relationship problems or anything, but you never know). But the parents say they’re not concerned:

“They’re still two people at the top of their respective fields. So honestly, we didn’t even think about it. It doesn’t matter to us whether or not they break up. We just wanted to give her people to look up to.”

The internet, though, had a field day with the name, with Swifties obviously loving it while others aren’t so sure:

“Centering your life around celebrities who will never know/care about you is weird”

“I’m sorry but this is incredibly parasocial and cringe.”

“This is why people make fun of T swift fans.”

“Celebrity worship is a pox on this culture.”

“I hope they don’t break up”

“Congrats to the baby, born into a lifetime of NFL Sundays and breakup albums.”

“That’s actually a cute name. I like it.”

“CPS should step in right now.”

“I’ve never wanted to see someone breakup more after reading this.”

“She’s going to grow up and be into death metal and hate football”

Of course there’s one more slight problem with the name: The Kelce family has revealed that their name is actually pronounced “Kels” and not “Kelsey” as everyone pronounces it. But the newborn’s parents aren’t worried about that, because “Kels” is actually not a bad nickname either.

Let’s just hope that the couple stays together – and that Kelce Taylor doesn’t end up marrying an Eagles fan.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go take care of my son, Whitley Waylon Merle Jones. (I’m just kidding. I don’t have kids yet. But when I do I’ve already got the name picked out). The post “Hope They Don’t Break Up” – The Internet Sounds Off After Kansas City Couple Names Their Baby “Kelce Taylor” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
