Tim Allen was moved to forgiveness by Erika Kirk.

It’s been over two weeks now since conservative media personality and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was attempting to have conversations with those who both agreed and disagreed with him – as he often did – and his life was brutally extinguished while he did so.

Since the shocking news spread across the world, politicians, artists, athletes and celebrities have voiced their support for Kirk, and shared their feelings of sadness, outrage, and horror that a man – who championed his relationship with Jesus Christ – was simply trying to speak and peacefully debate with others was shot down because of his beliefs.

Charlie’s wife, Erika Kirk, has stood strong as she mourns the loss of her husband. Ever since the tragedy, she’s done her best to turn the horrible moment into an inspiring one. That was on full display when, during Kirk’s memorial service last weekend, the widow decided to share that she forgives the man who shot and killed her husband:

“My husband Charlie he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life… On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do.’ That man, that young man. I forgive him.”

That was one of the most moving parts of Charlie’s service, and it was even hailed by Jimmy Kimmel as a very moving moment when his show returned to air following a brief suspension.

And Kimmel wasn’t the only one that was moved by Erika’s words. Tim Allen, the Home Improvement and Last Man Standing Star, evidently had a revelation when he watched Erika Kirk forgive her husband’s killer while the world was watching.

Allen lost his dad when he was just 11-years-old due to a car accident that was caused by a drunk driver. For over 60 years, the beloved actor has struggled with that grief and loss, and has never been able to forgive the person that killed his father. However, after witnessing Erika’s open display of forgiveness, Allen decided that it was time for him to finally forgive as well:

“When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: ‘That man… that young man… I forgive him.’ That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: ‘I forgive the man who killed my father.’ Peace be with you all.”

What a monumental moment in Tim Allen’s life.

And Allen’s decision to forgive is a great example of a light that comes out of the darkness. Those on social media applauded the TV star’s message, and many in the comments also found inspiration in Allen opting to let go of the pain and resentment that he held in his heart across decades.

Just goes to show how powerful and moving forgiveness can be.The post ‘Home Improvement’ Star, Tim Allen, Says Erika Kirk’s Memorial Speech Inspired Him To Forgive Drunk Driver Who Killed His Father first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
