Hiker Attempts Insane Challenge Where He Had To Eat 24 Burgers, Drink 24 Beers, & Hike 24 Miles In 24 Hours

I’m always here for a ridiculous challenge that tests the human limits. That’s why I’m always plugged into the “9-9-9 Challenge” at baseball games, where fans attempt to down 9 beers and 9 hot dogs during the nine-inning time span of the baseball game. That used to be a lot easier before the MLB implemented the pitch clock, which sped up games and shortened the window for the “9-9-9 Challenge.” Then you’ve got the “18-18-18 Challenge,” which I’ve proudly written […] The post Hiker Attempts Insane Challenge Where He Had To Eat 24 Burgers, Drink 24 Beers, & Hike 24 Miles In 24 Hours first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

I’m always here for a ridiculous challenge that tests the human limits.

That’s why I’m always plugged into the “9-9-9 Challenge” at baseball games, where fans attempt to down 9 beers and 9 hot dogs during the nine-inning time span of the baseball game. That used to be a lot easier before the MLB implemented the pitch clock, which sped up games and shortened the window for the “9-9-9 Challenge.”

Then you’ve got the “18-18-18 Challenge,” which I’ve proudly written about before. A man dressed up as a character from Happy Gilmore successfully completed the insane feat of 18 beers and 18 hot dogs in a matter of 18 holes. Depending on pace of play, that means he consumed all of that in a matter of 4 or 5 hours.

All that to say that I’m always keeping an eye out for the next big challenge. And I believe I’ve found that in this insane test of strength and willpower that was posted to TikTok by a man named Jordan Keldsen. He set out to hike the Pacific Crest Trail in California, which is hard enough by itself. But he upped the ante and decided that he’d try to knock all three of these things out in all in 24 hours or less:

-24 cheeseburgers

-24 beers

-24 miles

The brave man started at 9 P.M. at night, and quickly knocked out two burgers (from McDonald’s) and two beers in the first 30 minutes. By around 9 A.M. the next day, he had knocked out a number of miles, 12 beers and 4 burgers. To be frank, he had me worried about his pacing on the burgers from the get go.

While listening to “Mr. Sandman” later on in the hike, he provided another update that he had completed 16 beers, 9 burgers and was 15 miles in. That was around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, meaning he only had 7 or so hours to complete the challenge, and still had plenty left on the to-do list.

As I watched with my eyes practically glued to the screen, I was impressed by many things, including his ability to crack open cold ones with only one hand. But I was more-so fascinated with Keldsen’s love for life, and his appreciation for a good hike, a good burger, and an even better beer (all at once).

The man attempting to do the impossible eventually reached the 18 beer, 12 burger, 16 mile tally, and looked straight into the camera he was documenting all of this with and said:

“Don’t try this… this sucks.”

Most mere mortals would never dare.

The good news was that the hiker finished the 24 miles portion (and climbed over 5,000 feet of elevation) of the challenge with over four hours to spare. The bad news was that he had fallen behind pace to finish his allocated beers and burgers. As you’ll see, the beers still needing to be deleted were manageable, but he would have had to finish 10 burgers in only 3 hours after only eating 14 in a 21 hour period. He waived the white flag as the clock struck 9 P.M. and he said this:

“I failed the cheeseburger part, but I made it 24 miles and pounded 24 beers. Last one was a shower beer, it was amazing. I did 24 beers, 24 miles in 24 hours… and 15 burgers. But whatever, I had a good day. Don’t try this. Hike your own hike. You never know what you are capable of. Embrace the suck, because the cheeseburgers sucked.”
