Frankie Muniz won’t be getting behind the wheel for a while… and something tells me this is how some of you will find out that he’s a NASCAR driver.

As it turns out, there was an unbelievable amount of talent in the Malcolm in the Middle cast. Bryan Cranston went on to play the role of Walter White in Breaking Bad – which is considered one of the best TV shows of all time. And Frankie Muniz? He had some movies do okay post-Malcolm, but now it seems as though he’s really found his calling.

He’s a full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver, and he was certainly excited for the opportunity when it was announced back at the end of 2024:

“I’m incredibly excited to join Reaume Brothers Racing full-time in 2025. My longstanding relationship with Ford has been a game changer, and I am thrilled to help facilitate additional support allowing us to tap into their exceptional technical and engineering resources. I’m confident that this synergy will elevate Reaume Brothers Racing and help us achieve great things together. I can’t wait to get started.”

So as you can see, Muniz has traded in acting for the fast-paced life of a NASCAR driver. He’s been racing with the Reaume Brothers Racing team in 2025, and he drives the number 33 truck. Now I don’t know much about the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, but I do know that my favorite NASCAR truck series driver is the former child actor that brought us all so many laughs with his performance in Malcolm in the Middle.

And this isn’t some sort of out-of-the-blue thing. Muniz was formerly a full-time driver in the ARCA Menards Series last year, where he racked up 11 finishes in the top-10, and even had one finish in the top-5. Translation: this career shift into racing is no joke, and he’s dedicated himself fully to this new endeavor.

But unfortunately, it appears that Muniz’s 2025 season might be coming to an end a little early. After competing in 18 races and achieving one top 10, an injury that happened outside of the track is going to sideline him for the foreseeable future. Muniz suffered an injury in a freak accident at his home, and he disclosed how it all went down in a social media post:

“The phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these. I’m disappointed to share that I won’t be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture. Yesterday, I fell from the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in my backyard.

Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, ‘Do not sit or stand on top step.’ In hindsight, a taller ladder would’ve been smarter. While I’m gutted to miss the races, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. I feel for my team, who’ve poured their hearts into this season, and I’m thankful for Ford Performance and their unwavering support. The doctor estimates a 6 to 8 week recovery, so I’ll be back in the driver’s seat as soon as I’m cleared.”

For those that aren’t familiar with distal radius fractures, that’s basically a broken bone in the area of the wrist, and it’s one of the most common type of fractures (people instinctively trying to break their fall… and consequently breaking their wrist). The silver lining? Muniz said himself that it could have been worse, so here’s to hoping that he gets healed up sooner rather than later so he can get back to racing. The post Frankie Muniz Suffers Serious Injury From Ladder Fall, Will Keep Him Out Of NASCAR Truck Series For 6 To 8 Weeks first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
