Most fathers will be able to relate to this. When the kiddos go with on a trip, it’s not really a vacation as much as it is parenting in a different place. So what do you do when you are at Disney World with the family and you just want a part of the trip to feel a little bit relaxing?
You sneak out to play golf before everyone else gets up. That’s really the only choice a lot of dads have.
Michael Fasano, an avid golfer and Disney Dad who was brave enough to try and get in an emergency nine holes on his family trip to the House of Mouse, is currently going viral for living out the dream of every father that’s ever made a trip to Disney.
The idea? Fasano wanted to play some golf during a vacation that otherwise revolved around taking the kids around the world-famous theme park. The plan? The golfer was going to get up and play some golf before the rest of his family even woke up, as he explained:
“Alright, I’m on a family Disney vacation and I’m going to try and do the unthinkable. I’m going to try and play golf before the family wakes up and see if I can squeeze it in. Let’s see if it can be done.”
Fasano quietly snuck out of their room at the resort, made his way over to the golf course, and paid for nine holes (half of a full round) just as the sun was coming up. He started playing just after 6:30 in the morning, and since his family had a late night at the Magic Kingdom that wrapped up just hours before, he figured he had two or so hours to play.
He explained in the video that he wasn’t exactly prepared for the round of golf:
-No golf shoes
-No golf glove
-Only three golf balls
-Had to use Rental clubs
But that didn’t stop the dad. He powered through and played what might be one of the fastest rounds of golf ever, just so he could say that he hit the little white ball around (and presumably get some alone time) while he was in Florida.
Fasano kept up the speedy pace throughout his nine holes, and even took a moment to take in the beautiful scenery of the golf course… for all of two seconds. He couldn’t spare any time if he wanted to get back to his room before his wife and kids woke up around 9:00 a.m..

What an unbelievable, athletic accomplishment.
On the list of possible peak dad moments, this is certainly high up there. We’re looking at a first-team, All-American father right here. He didn’t sacrifice time with his family to play golf… he sacrificed his own sleep to get out on the links. And his wife and kids had no idea about any of it.
