Over the weekend, the internet broke with another Vanderbilt University headline.
During the Nashville university’s season opener, they proved to SEC fans that they might be in for another good season (haven’t been many of them in recent memory) with a victory over Charleston Southern at home. The school also garnered some attention when both of Diego Pavia’s brothers managed to get arrested during the game.
The following week, the Commodores hit the road to absolutely demolish Virginia Tech. And over this past weekend, Vandy did it again and put a beatdown on #11 South Carolina, beating the Gamecocks 31-7 in their own stadium.
The only person who might have been more excited about the win than Diego Pavia and his Vanderbilt teammates might have been… Theo Von. The comedian, podcaster, and Nashville resident was on the Vandy sideline for the game, where he told reporter Cole Cubelic that Diego Pavia had promised him a date with his mom if the Commodores beat South Carolina:
“She’s a nurse, and my goal is I would like to marry a nurse one day, so that’s why. He was thinking about that.”
But it sounds like Theo was already getting cold feet before the game was even over:
“I don’t know, I like being his friend, I don’t want to end up being like his stepdad or something, you know? … We’ll see what happens.”
And for anyone wondering, this is Diego Pavia’s mom, Antoinette Padilla.
“What Theo Von forgot is, I said it was a deal if and only if he told Tate McRae to lemme take her on A1 date in Nashville, Twitter make it happen.”
HA.
Over the weekend, the Canadian pop star, Tate McRae, performed in Nashville and surprised guests with a performance of “6 Months Later” with Megan Moroney. The acoustic performance of the country tune was a huge change in tune from the rest of her show, where she is busting a move on stage, laying down some very impressive dance moves.
However, sadly for Pavia, McRae is currently in a relationship with fellow musician The Kid LAROI. Rumors began to swirl at the start of 2024 that she was seeing the Australian rapper, later confirming their relationship as a couple in April of the same year.
While she might be off the market, you have to respect Pavia for shooting his shot…
One X user suggested that they should make it a double date and livestream it for fans to watch, and honestly, I think that would be hilarious. Tate McRae should consider doing it for the sheer entertainment value of getting Theo Von and Pavia’s mom on a date.
Pavia might be moving the goal line a little too much with this added caveat of the initial deal… However, never say never. Time will tell if social media and Theo Von make this happen.
While you’re here, you might as well check out Tate McRae and Megan Moroney’s performance from Bridgestone Arena.
