No surprise he didn’t like the show.
Barstool Sports founder and CEO Dave Portnoy has made it clear that he’s not a fan of Zach Bryan. In the wake of the messy breakup between Zach and Brianna LaPaglia (better known as Brianna Chickenfry), Portnoy was a fierce defender of the Barstool Sports personality, who at the time was also his co-host on the BFFs podcast.
Portnoy released a brutal diss track called “Smallest Man,” and explained that he was never a fan of the country star:
“Yes. I was never a liker. How do you like that? I was never a liker…
I think he’s a fraud. Every time I met him I was not comfortable with him. Certain guys where you’re like, ‘Ok I kinda like this guy, he’s a gives good vibes guy.’ This guy never gave that vibe to me.”
And he also revealed that Zach had once banned him from his concerts over a joke Portnoy had made months earlier about Brianna bouncing around between boyfriends:
“The story goes, this is, we’re at the Super Bowl. Zach Bryan is performing and Josh Richards, who we do BFFs with, we were going to go to his concert. Meet Bri, go and on my text now I’m like ‘Hey Bri, what time are we meeting up to go?’ She’s not getting back to me. Finally she calls me, she goes, ‘I don’t know how to say this, I have bad news.’
I’m like, ‘What?’ She’s like, Zach has banned you from going to the concert. I’m like, ‘What? Banned? For what?’ Apparently, Zach went back, like, how many months was it? It had to be six months… we at one time on BFFs had a discussion where Bri just got a new boyfriend, and we’re like, ‘Whoa, that’s like your third boyfriend in barely a couple months.’
I’m like, ‘You’re a revolving door of boyfriends lately.’ He saw that, flipped… six months prior, and banned us from going to the concert. Bri was like, ‘It’s the first, biggest fight we’ve been in.’ I’m like this is what we do, like we joke, like what are you mad about?”
Well recently the feud between Zach and Barstool was reignited when the country singer took a shot at his ex-girlfriend and her employer by posting a video to his Instagram story of himself lighting a “Saturday is For The Boys” flag (actually it was a golf towel) on fire and hitting it with a golf club.
The video was in response to a video Brianna posted featuring Tyler Childers’ new song “Bitin’ List,” which has become a social media trend and was reposted by Tyler’s official Instagram account (though he doesn’t run it himself, and the account has reposted a lot of fan videos of the song).
Well Portnoy responded by mocking Zach’s video:
And today during an episode of The Unnamed Podcast, which Portnoy co-hosts with Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney, El Pres went in even harder on Zach – and his concerts.
Despite being banned at one point, Portnoy finally made it to a Zach Bryan show in Foxborough, Massachusetts last summer, and even got up on stage during “Revival.”
