Daft Punk Rumored to Be Reuniting in Fortnite

Fortnite's battle royale question "Where are we dropping?" might soon have a musical answer, as rumors point to legendary electronic music duo Daft Punk headlining the game's next Festival event.

The rumor comes courtesy of trusted Fortnite leaker @FNBRintel. While neither Fortnite creators Epic Games nor the elusive artists themselves have confirmed the collaboration, the leak has ignited a firestorm of speculation at the intersection of gaming and electronic music fandoms.

Reunion rumors have been rampant since Daft Punk shockingly disbanded in 2021, leaving behind a deeply influential legacy and a trail of broken hearts. A number of archival releases have trickled out since, but fans have seen no signs of a bona fide comeback.

A collaboration between Daft Punk and Fortnite feels like a match made in digital heaven. Fortnite has consistently innovated the nexus of gaming and live music, starting with Marshmello's 2019 in-game performance and eventually creating a separate, rhythm-based game mode, Fortnite Festival, which has featured The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Metallica.

The idea of donning Daft Punk’s iconic helmets while dancing to "One More Time" at a virtual festival stage is enough to send both ravers and gamers into orbit. If the rumor holds true, they're in for one of the most ambitious crossovers in digital entertainment in some time.
