And Schurrle is showing absolutely no signs of stopping. The former German international and World Cup winner is currently taking part in the ‘Last Soul Ultra’ along with 99 others. The event takes place in Germany and sees participants have to complete a 6.7km (4.71-mile) lap of the course every hour. Each lap starts bang on the hour and each person has to be at the line on time and start the next lap, otherwise they are eliminated. There is no time limit or overall finish line, so the winner is crowned after all others have not been able to start or complete a lap. It is an extreme endurance test and Schurrle knows that the event will take him to his limits, saying: “I’m fascinated by how far you can go when your body is already screaming to stop. “This very moment—when only your head is making the decision—is the core of the Last Soul Ultra.”  “There are certain things that I see as challenges,” he added to SID. “I want to benefit from these difficult moments in my life. “Of course, that also involves extremes.
