Oh, quite the protest, eh?

Canadian country music artists Dallas Smith won’t be taking his tour to the United States this Fall.

Smith, a Canadian country singer, took offense to when President Trump said he wanted to make Canada the “51st state” of the United States quite a while back, which sparked some tense relations between the United States and its neighbor to the north. Of course, some of that came to a head in the ELECTRIC 4 Nations Cup group stage game between Team USA and Team Canada. The gloves came off early and they came off often, and while the US dominated that game, Team Canada ultimately went on to win the rematch in the final, after an overtime game-winner from Connor McDavid.

Anyways, back to Dallas Smith…

He just announced a fall acoustic tour across his home country – intentionally featuring 51 stops – and made sure to not include any American tour dates.

Smith recently explained how he got to 51 total tour dates:

“We were close to that number and then we said let’s just make that happen. It was important for me to come, especially at this time, (with) a lot of Canadian pride. I want to get out there, really go hard, and visit all these places that I haven’t been and see the country.”

As to why he thought he’d “jab” at Donald Trump with his total number of tour dates, the “Somebody Somewhere” singer has simply been displeased with the relations between Canada and the U.S. of A. Specifically, Smith says he doesn’t like what is going on in America at the moment, and he didn’t want to tour in the country:

“There is a lot going on in the U.S. that goes against my upbringing and what I think is right. So why not double down and spend the time in a place that I really want to enjoy and be around my people?”

Ok…

Thus, the Canadian artist will be effectively “boycotting” the United States on his upcoming Dallas Smith & His Band (Unplugged) 2025 Tour. To be fair, nobody really cares over here in the states, but whatever floats your boat, dude. I really hate when people comment “who?” on a post about a country artist they don’t like, when they clearly know who it is (like Tyler Childers for example), but in this instance, I think the “who?” comments are gonna be pretty well-warranted.

In case you wanted to look at some of his tour dates, I’ve included them below, but if you are from the United States, I doubt you’ll be interested in going out of the country to see an artist in Canada. If you are from Canada, and have a lot of pride in your country, there’s plenty of tour stops to choose from.
