Can Arsenal Lift A Trophy In The 2025/26 Season?

There’s no arguing that Arsenal are one of the top teams in both England and Europe. They have a quality squad, consistency, and a top manager in Mikel Arteta, yet one thing is missing – the trophies. It was nice for Arsenal fans to finally exit the purgatory of constant underachievement, and once again become a team that plays the Champions League year in and year out. It was something that Arsene Wenger delivered on a regular basis for years, but even during the Frenchmen rule, the Gunners have gotten tired of constantly being out of the title race come January, and a satisfactory FA Cup win here and there.
Fans want more. Fans deserve more. As we said, Arteta’s Arsenal side is a consistent one, regularly finishing the season as one of the top three teams in the Premier League, but since the odd FA Cup win in 2020, the team has been on a steady trophy drought. It’s been five years since the Gunners last lifted a trophy, and in the meantime Crystal palace and Newcastle have managed to end their droughts, showing that Arteta and his boys have little to no excuses not to lift on in 2015/26 season.
Is the 2025/26 season finally the year when you can cover Arsenal to win a trophy if you were a soccer betting enthusiast? We can’t tell. It’s not like the team lacks effort. What they lack is the absence of an injury crisis each year, and a few reinforcements across the lines. We’re not going to say that Arteta is on a short leash considering how he changed the mentality of an entire team and its fan base, but delivering a trophy in the coming season would be nice, or his seat will become a hot one. So, what needs to happen for the Gunners to become PL winners, Champions League favourites, and a serious threat in the domestic cups?
Gunners are in a Trophy Vicinity
As we said, Arsenal has been almost good enough for a domestic trophy at least. They’ve been the only challenger for the dominant Manchester City juggernaut in recent years. Their semi-final appearance, and a loss in the hands of eventual winners PSG is also a step in the right direction. Even the biggest Arsenal haters need to agree that what lacks this Arsenal team are the slightest touches of a brush to create another masterpiece not seen since the days of Arsene Wenger. The issue that Arsenal has is not the lack of winning. It is the abundance of draws. The team has defensive prowess that only needs better finishing upfront to make them a real threat in the coming season and years after that. This Arsenal squad is filled with winners, and all of them are backing Arteta’s ideas to the point. If you’ve watched Arsenal this past season, it is evident that the slightest of touches are necessary, and the trophy cabinet will be filled with more than one new addition at the Emirates Stadium.
Can They Get ‘Slightly’ Better?
The margins between success and failure are minimalistic. The fans of Arsenal know that better than anyone. Without exaggeration, to win a trophy next season, the Gunners need to get only slightly better. We’re talking the smallest of margins. The team is a contender as is, both in Europe and in the PL. With the likes of Saliba, Gabriel, Havertz, Odegaard, Saka, Rice, Trossard, and Merino they have one of the best squads in the league. They’re like 5% removed from winning the Premier League title. Finishing second in the last three years is proof of what we claim. But, how to find that extra winning percentage? Well, it is a combination of two small matters. One is on the field tweaks made by Arteta during the season, and we’re talking about a slightly better game-to-game management. The second one is the transfer dealings the Gunners are going to make during the summer transfer window. We’re going to leave the first part in Arteta’s hands. Here’s what we want for the summer transfer window in North London.
No9 as a Top Priority
What Arsenal lacks at this moment is a true No. 9. An attacking option that can score anything between 15 and 20 goals. If they can get a striker that can score more next season they will win the Premier League for sure. If they sign a proper striker during the summer you can immediately after the signing officially go to Sportsbet and place a bet on the Gunners winning the 2025/26 PL. It is not a secret that it’s been years since Arsenal had a proper striker option at disposal. This is funny considering that in the past they’ve had the likes of Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang, Alexis Sanchez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Robin Van Persie, and Olivier Giroud leading the front line. Nowadays, their power comes from defence, and the attack has to rely on creativity and goal scoring from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Trossard, none of whom are among the top scorers in the Premier League. The names that are in the mix include the likes of the super talented Slovenian ace from RB Leipzig Benjamin Sesko, and the Swedish beast and one of the top scorers in the world Viktor Gyokeres.
These two are at the top of the shortlist Mikel Arteta prepared for the summer transfer window. The way things stand right now, it is almost certain that either will join the North London side. Even if both proposals fail due to the fact both RB Leipzig and Sporting Lisbon are too much at this stage of negotiations, there are other options Arsenal needs to explore. In our opinion one of the names that need to be put into consideration is Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. The Serb is surplus to requirement in Turin, and he would come at a discount price considering that he’s entering the last year of his contract. The only issue might be the high wages that he’s on in Turin. Luckily, Jonathan David is still on the market, available on a free transfer. His wage demands are more reasonable, yet the agent fees involved due to the free transfer are creating an obstacle for all teams wanting to sign him. If by any case, neither of the transfers above realizes, Arsenal needs to look at reinforcements domestically with the likes of Ollie Watkins, and Jean-Philippe Mateta being on the market.
Quality Over Quantity
At the moment, it might appear that Arsenal is all over the place with their summer dealings. Yet, that’s not precisely the case. The depth is not there right now, but when it’s all said and done, it will be. The Gunners are in the race for Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad who will arrive in London 99%. The same goes for Christian Norgaard from Brentford and goalkeeper Kepa from Chelsea. Cristhian Mosquera is also on the radar, and Real Madrid’s superstar Rodrygo is also monitored.
With the imminent arrival of at least one striker, Arsenal looks poised to have a high quality but also a deep squad. In past years they’ve also proven that featuring stars from their academy is a part of the winning formula. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, and Lewis-Skelly Myles are an integral part of Arsenal’s squad and plans for the future. When you also know that the likes of Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Reiss Nelson are coming back from loans, you know that Arteta will have enough players and time to assemble a winning team. Also, if Eberechi Eze rumours are true, Arsenal might have one of the most dominant transfer windows in recent memory.
Bottom Line
In our book, when the season starts in August, and Champions League gates open in September, Arsenal will be one of the favorites on both fronts. Later on as EFL CUP and FA Cup games come onto the schedule, Arsenal will have enough firepower to battle on those fronts too. A trophy shouldn’t be celebrated before the season even started, but with everything Arteta and Arsenal’s top brass are cooking in London right now, there’s just a feeling that Arsenal fans will have their bellies full come May of 2026.
