California Politicians Declare June as "Electronic Dance Music Month"
A pair of state representatives honored Pasquale Rotella, the founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, for his contributions to California's EDM community.

California has officially designated June as "Electronic Dance Music Month," marking the first time the state has formally recognized the genre's cultural and economic significance, according to Assembly Majority Whip Mark González and Senator Sasha Renée Pérez.
The bipartisan bill was introduced in May and received sponsorship from 74 representatives prior to its approval. The politicians announced the declaration jointly on social media, highlighting EDM's impact on communities across the state and beyond.
"EDM is more than just music festivals," the lawmakers stated. "It’s a vibrant culture rooted in values of peace, love, unity, and respect. These events create inclusive spaces where people from all walks of life can express themselves freely, celebrate loudly, and be unapologetically proud of who they are."
The recognition comes as electronic dance music festivals continue to generate substantial revenue for the state of California and its local economies, due in large part to Insomniac Events. The renowned event organizer, mentioned by name in González and Pérez's post, is behind HARD Summer, Beyond Wonderland, Skyline and Day Trip, among other famed SoCal festivals.
Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac's founder and CEO, recently joined González at a ceremony to celebrate the bill's passing. You can watch footage from the event below.
