Bryan Mbeumo holds talks with Manchester United as club make second immediate transfer move

Manchester United have held talks with Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, talkSPORT understands. The Bees winger has enjoyed the most productive season of his career – helping the west London outfit to tenth spot in the table. Mbeumo has been one of the Premier League’s standout players this seasonGetty Featuring in all of Brentford’s 38 Premier League matches, the 25-year-old chipped in with 20 goals and seven assists. His final strike of the campaign came in the last game of the term on Sunday in a 1-1 draw away at Wolves. With just one year left on his deal, Brentford know they may reluctantly have to part ways with the player to avoid losing him on a free transfer. And the Red Devils are ready to test their resolve as boss Ruben Amorim looks to assemble a squad capable of getting back into Europe. Brentford value Mbeumo around the £50million mark, with Newcastle also interested. Bees boss Thomas Frank has already hinted that Mbeumo could be on the move and are powerless to keep him at the club. Admitting he could depart the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford boss Thomas Frank recently admitted: “I can definitely understand the interest in him. “There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. “I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.” United are acting fast in their preparations for the new season having already agreed a deal to sign Wolves star Matheus Cunha in a £62.5m move. However, Chelsea have overtaken the Red Devils as frontrunners in the race for Ipswich forward Liam Delap. More to follow…
