If you thought that Season 2 of Landman has been intense, just wait until Season 3 rolls around.

The second season of Landman premiered back on November 16 – almost exactly a year after the show’s first season (it aired on November 17, 2024). And the show boasting a cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph – among others – once again had massive ratings.

Season 2’s premiere holds the title of the biggest season or series premiere ever for Paramount+. More than 9 million people viewed the first episode of the second season in the first fews days it was available on the streamer. That number was more than triple what the series premiere of Landman did in 2024… so let me let you in on a little secret.

Where there’s viewership, there’s money. Where there’s money, there’s more seasons (and potential spinoffs).

So Landman Season 3 is officially ordered and in the works. And I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but all signs are pointing towards the series continuing on for many more years to come.Billy Bob Thornton, who signed on to do the series for four or five years in his contract, has said previously that he wants to play Tommy Norris as long as he’s able to.

Could “as long as he’s able” coincide with that four-to-five year contract of his? Probably. But that just goes to show that the people working on the series are rather comfortable sticking around to tell the story for a while. The Season 3 order is also a relief considering all the news of Taylor Sheridan leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal. That has inadvertently caused some concern for the show’s future. But there’s no need to fret about it now with the official confirmation.

As for what fans can expect when Landman airs its third season in late 2026 (if they stick to their release schedule, and it’s looking like they will), the show’s leading man – Billy Bob Thornton – doesn’t know much about the plans for Season 3. He told Men’s Journal that it’s pretty common for Taylor Sheridan to keep things a secret until the first scripts start going out:

“Taylor plays it very close to the vest. He doesn’t tell any of us what he’s up to. He’ll probably tell me, maybe after I get the first script. Then he’ll tell me a few things that are going to happen. Right now, I don’t know anything.”

But what if Billy Bob Thornton had to guess?

If the 70-year-old actor used some context clues provided in Season 1 and Season 2, he’s guessing that the third act of the series will be taken to a whole other level:

“I have a feeling a lot of things are really going to ramp up (in Season 3). Because the first season was so full of action stuff and danger. The second season was full of the family and business relationships. It’s just a guess, but I’d imagine things will come to a head.”

Here’s to hoping that Billy Bob Thornton is right about that assumption…
