Charles Wesley Godwin Teases New Song “Christian Name” Ahead Of 2026 Tour Of The Same Name

Charles Wesley Godwin giving his fans a little teaser of what’s to come in 2026.

He’s one of the most underrated songwriters and performers in modern day country music. Go to any Charles Wesley Godwin show and you’ll instantly be turned into a fan. Turn on any song penned by the 32-year-old and you’ll instantly be transported to Appalachia.

Simply put, Charles Wesley Godwin has a way of making a lasting impression.

He and his band – the Allegheny High – are phenomenal live. They’ve mastered the ability to navigate the highest of highs (with songs like “All Again” and “Hardwood Floors”) and slower ballads (“Seneca Creek” or “Dance in Rain”), all in one show. And it sounds like Godwin is rolling out another tender toe-tapper with a new, unreleased track titled “Christian Name.”

As Godwin often does, he sat in a room of his house riddled with taxidermy, set up a camera, and recorded an acoustic performance of an unfamiliar song. This time, he let his fans hear “Christian Name,” which tells the story of a man who is struggling with a somewhat recent end to a relationship and turns to God for help:

“I’m named after great, faithful men
They were sent to talk with God, that I can never understand
When I ask God why I’m left with no one to blame
But my Christian name, oh, my Christian name.”

It sounds like a welcome addition to Godwin’s already stellar catalogue, and I’m hoping the studio version of the song comes out sooner rather than later. For now, the video that Charles so kindly shared will have to do:

“‘Christian Name’ – Practicing some of the new ones on this snowy day in West Virginia. Hope y’all are having a great Sunday! Enjoy!”

And it makes sense that Godwin would be teasing that song in particular, considering the West Virginia native has a tour of the same name coming in just a couple of months.

Godwin and his band will kick things off with back-to-back nights of shows on March 27th in Salt Lake City, Utah and March 28th  in Boise, Idaho. Those two dates will the last of Charles Wesley Godwin’s nights in support of the Turnpike Troubadours, who decided to extend their Wild America Tour, into 2026.

After that, Godwin will get back to headlining with shows in Little Rock, Arkansas, Oxford, Mississippi, Atlanta, Georgia, Chattanooga, Tennessee and Wilkesboro, North Carolina. All of those dates will be in April, and will feature support from Jason Scott & The High Heat.

The Christian Name Tour will then wrap up with two major festival spots, with the first being Stagecoach on April 25, and Under The Big Sky Festival on July 19 acting as the final tour date for Charles Wesley Godwin… at least for now (my fingers are crossed that he’ll add even more stops along the way).
