Move over Morgan Wallen…

The country music superstar set all kinds of records with his One Night A Time tour, which began in 2023 and wrapped up last year. It was the highest-grossing tour of 2023 at over $300 million, and when it wrapped up it was announced as the highest-selling country tour of all time with over 3 million tickets sold.

It wasn’t announced how much the tour grossed in 2024, so we don’t know exactly how much it raked in during the tour’s two year run. But last year, it was revealed that Zach Bryan had the highest-grossing country tour of 2024 with $321 million in sales. And Garth Brooks had previously set the record for the highest-grossing country tour of all time with his Garth Brooks World Tour, which spanned 390 dates between 2014-2017 and made $364 million.

All that to say, it’s safe to assume that Morgan’s tour made at least $64 million in 2024 to top the list when it was all said and done.

But it doesn’t really matter now, because there’s a new record anyway – although I have a feeling a lot of country fans are going to put an asterisk beside this one.

Billboard Boxscore announced over the weekend that Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter tour was now the highest-grossing country music tour of all time, setting a record with $407.6 million in sales in just three months. The tour reportedly sold 1.6 million tickets over just 32 shows in nine cities.

The tour kicked off back in April at SoFi Stadium in California, and wrapped up this past weekend at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing though. After tickets went on sale for the tour, it was reported that sales were lower than expected (although apparently they weren’t that bad if it was enough to set a record), and after the first stop of the tour, Beyoncé was forced to make changes to the videos used during her show after receiving a cease and desist letter from the Las Vegas Sphere.

She also upset some of her fans when she performed the national anthem during her show, and had a scary moment during a stop at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas when the car she was flying in above the crowd malfunctioned and tilted sideways, leaving Bey holding on and the crowd holding their breath.

The second she said “stop, stop stop” we went completely silent. Omg. They lowered her into the crowd. #beyonce #cowboycarter #houston #texas

Of course whether the Cowboy Carter tour should actually be counted as a “country” tour will no doubt be a topic of debate, as has pretty much everything surrounding her album of the same name.

Both the ACM Awards and the CMA Awards declined to nominate Beyoncé or the album after she herself said that it wasn’t a country album, which led to the inevitable cries of racism from those who thought she deserved to be in the awards conversation. But at the Grammy Awards back in February, Cowboy Carter took home the awards for both Album of the Year and Best Country Album, while she also won for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus.

So yeah, whether the tour should even be considered “country” is going to depend on who you ask. But according to Billboard’s rankings, there’s a new cowgirl at the top of the list.
