Armin van Buuren and Adam Beyer have joined forces for their first-ever collaboration, “Techno Trance.”

Out now via Armada Music, the track reimagines D-Shake’s 1992 underground classic of the same name, a record that blurred techno, acid house and early trance at a time when genre boundaries were still taking shape. 33 years later, two of dance music’s most influential producers and label bosses have revived that spirit and pushed the timeless track into the future.

The track first premiered during the duo’s b2b at A State of Trance Rotterdam back in February, and it’s been a staple in their DJ sets ever since.

Driven by Beyer’s pounding kicks and hypnotic percussion, the rework is punctuated by van Buuren’s euphoric synths and atmospheric breakdowns. The result shifts depending on how you listen: lean into the drums and it feels like a dark techno storm, focus on the melodies and it opens into a classic trance release. The repeated “Come on, make some noise” refrain starts muffled, building tension before the drop snaps the arrangement into a groove that unites both worlds.

“‘Techno Trance’ still hits hard after 30 years,” van Buuren said. “Reworking it with Adam let us revive the spirit of that era in a 2025 jacket, connecting a new generation on the dancefloor with our combined signature sounds.”

Beyer adds: “Playing the track back-to-back with Armin and seeing both trance and techno fans connect instantly was incredible. It shows that great music goes beyond genres and eras, and the energy speaks for itself.”

Fans can commemorate the release with a limited-edition mirrored “Techno Trance” shirt, available on the online shops of both Armada and Drumcode.
