That headline takes on a special meaning when you remember that Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor is also a member of Arcadea. Don’t worry, you’ll understand soon enough.

Their latest single “Lake of Rust” is a wild, trippy experiment in sound. Naturally, it features Dailor on vocals and drums throughout. It’s a groovy number that if you’re not already familiar with Arcadea’s style, might throw you off a bit.

While speaking with Revolver, Dailor explained his thought process and influence when working on Arcadea’s upcoming full-length effort The Exodus of Gravity.

“I like synth-based music, and that’s a big part of my musical catalog at home: seventies French electronic stuff, in the realm of Arcadea. Some of my favorite stuff from the bigger prog groups out there, like Genesis, are the synth moments. I wanted to make an album that sounded like those moments.”

Arcadea is a trippy space opera powered by synth rock. It features Dailor and synth masters Core Atoms and João Nogueira, who each come together to produce highly danceable, groovy tunes that should at times evoke some sort of emotional feeling, too.

With this being the final single before the album’s release later this month, Core Atoms explained how The Exodus of Gravity will be released on August 22, but you can preorder your copy today.
