ABC Reporter Under Fire For Claiming That LA Riots Are Just People “Having Fun Watching Cars Burn”
Just some mostly peaceful car fires. It seems like every time there’s a riot in a Democrat-controlled city, the media goes out of their way to downplay it as a “peaceful protest” and make it seem like it’s no big deal. Just some mostly peaceful car fires.
It seems like every time there’s a riot in a Democrat-controlled city, the media goes out of their way to downplay it as a “peaceful protest” and make it seem like it’s no big deal. It happened back in 2020 during the riots over the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin when CNN incredibly ran a headline calling them “mostly peaceful protests” as cars and buildings burned in the background.
And they’re back at it again as we’re once again seeing violence and destruction break out in Los Angeles, California.
It all started a few days ago when protests began to erupt amid reports of immigration operations by ICE in LA. Videos from over the weekend showed the demonstrators surrounding law enforcement vehicles and throwing rocks at them as they tried to drive away.
But things only escalated from there, and as the protests began to grow and become violent, President Donald Trump signed an order federalizing 2,000 members of the National Guard to restore order to the situation and protect federal buildings in Los Angeles, including the courthouse and immigrant detention centers.
The move outraged California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who insist that LAPD has the situation under control and that sending the National Guard is an unnecessary escalation to an already volatile situation. But Trump hasn’t backed down, with the president and his Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth warning that there are Marines who are ready to be deployed to LA if things don’t calm down.
Last night, I watched on television as rioters burned several Waymo self-driving cars and threw rocks, bricks, and even scooters off of bridges onto police cars below.
But if you’re watching ABC 7, a local news station in Glendale, California, it’s just a bunch of people having fun.
A clip quickly began circulating this morning after reporter Marc Brown warned of sending more law enforcement to handle the crowds:
“It could turn very volatile if you move law enforcement in there in the wrong way, and turn what is a just bunch of people having fun watching cars burn into a massive confrontation and altercation between officers and demonstrators.”
I guess that’s one way to describe it…
Of course it’s not surprising that the news wants to downplay the situation and side with the rioters and people burning cars over law enforcement. But Brown was quickly called out for his comments and his attempt at framing the situation on the ground:
“ABC News is pure propaganda.”
“That they see nothing wrong with this is insane.”
“The gaslighting continues.”
“When activists replace journalists.”
“Los Angeles news channels have become worse than communist state-operated propaganda.”
“This is why corporate media is laughed at. This is why they aren’t to be taken serious.”
“What is making the cars burn dude? They light themselves on fire?”
“Any idea why people are losing faith in mainstream media?”
It’s a sad, but predictable, spin on a terrible situation from the media who seem desperate to cover for the same people who are destroying their city.
It happens every time something like this breaks out, so I don’t know why we’re even surprised at this point. Just shameful. The post ABC Reporter Under Fire For Claiming That LA Riots Are Just People “Having Fun Watching Cars Burn” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
