Young Georgia Bulldogs Fan Goes Viral For Refusing To Sing “Rocky Top” At His School Christmas Program

The SEC just means more.
One could argue that it’s the most tense time of the year for college football fans. Either their teams made it into the College Football Playoff, or they didn’t (and are instead going to a wonderful bowl game like the Pop-Tarts Bowl). Things are especially dicey in the SEC, with five teams making it into the 12-team playoff.
Of those 12 teams from the Southeastern Conference, Georgia is probably the favorite to bring home the championship trophy. So the kid in this viral video at least has that to look forward to, since he clearly wasn’t having a good time at his Chattanooga school’s Christmas program.
Long story short, this school put on a holiday performance for parents, siblings and friends to come and enjoy. They covered a number of classic Christmas hits, and then closed out the show with a performance of “Rocky Top,” which was originally recorded in 1967 by the Osborne Brothers.
In case you don’t know, the University of Tennessee has basically claimed that track as their unofficial fight song. Knoxville has become somewhat synonymous with “Rocky Top,” and Tennessee fans sing it loud and proud (and obnoxiously) any chance that they get.
Georgia fans would never, under any circumstance, participate in a “Rocky Top” sing-along.
Which is why this young Georgia Bulldogs fan is making waves on the internet. As the rest of his classmates broke into the Tennessee fight song, he stood still, crossed his arms and shook his head in disapproval (and definitely didn’t sing). And his Georgia Bulldogs parents must be so proud:

The rare instance where you are happy your kid didn’t participate in the school sanctioned event.
It’s an absolutely hilarious watch, and if you listen closely, you can even hear the boy’s dad saying, “That’s my boy.” Nothing – not even a threat of Santa bringing him coal – was going to get him to sing the fight song of a rival SEC school. You’ve got to admire the kid’s strong will. The young Georgia fan was absolutely disgusted with what was happening around him, but he still stood up on stage and frowned his way through it.
Social media users that have come across the clip are absolutely loving it, and are even siding with the kid and applauding him for sticking with his fandom:
“He’s just there so he doesn’t get fined.”
“Kirby Smart needs to send this kid a Christmas gift.”
“He understood the assignment! Not a chance of him breaking that loyalty.”
“I love that he’s standing on business baby! GO DAWGS.”
“Raising him right.”
“Stay strong buddy. That song sucks.”
“UGA should have his acceptance letter in the mail shortly.”The post Young Georgia Bulldogs Fan Goes Viral For Refusing To Sing “Rocky Top” At His School Christmas Program first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
