‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff ‘The Madison’ Wraps Filming On Season 2… & Season 1 Hasn’t Even Aired Yet

The second season of The Madison has wrapped filming… and fans haven’t even seen the first season of the Yellowstone spinoff.
Taylor Sheridan and the rest of the crew handling The Madison are going about things a bit differently than a normal television series would, but I guess that makes sense. With the Yellowstone creator’s track record, he’s probably one of the only people in the industry that can shoot whatever he wants, wherever he wants, however he wants, without any official orders.
The Madison is the one Yellowstone spinoff that’s really intrigued the masses. It has Michelle Pfeiffer attached, and apparently wrapped filming on Season 1 back in 2024. As far as plot is concerned, the series is supposed to revolve around the titular character of Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy matriarch who upends her life in New York City to move her and her family to Montana following a plane crash that kills her husband and brother-in-law.
They began filming the series in Montana in August of 2024, and sources say they shot more for the spinoff in North Texas in November and December of last year as well. In fact, David Glasser, the CEO of 101 studios, said that The Madison was set to start shooting it’s second season back in October of 2025… despite the first season not airing as of yet, and there not being an official order for the second season.
And back in September, it was announced that Hollywood star Kurt Russell, known for his iconic roles in Overboard (1987), Tombstone (1993), and The Hateful Eight (2015), had joined the cast of The Madison. Considering the timing of the announcement, it would be assumed that he’s joining on for the show’s second season… but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he’d also be included in the western drama’s inaugural run.
Then at the end of November (sorry to bombard you with updates, but you did click on this story), there were reports that Kurt Russell was in Dallas, Texas, where a portion of the downtown area was shut down to shoot scenes for… you guessed it, The Madison. Collider reported that the scenes that were being shot in downtown Dallas were for the show’s second season, which basically confirmed that production was ongoing for Season 2.
And now we have an update that shooting for Season 2 of The Madison has already wrapped.
Just a friendly reminder, and sorry to sound like a broken record… but the first season hasn’t even come out yet. Understood? Are we all on the same page? Good deal. With that in mind, please don’t be confused by this Instagram stories post from Elle Chaps (who is featured in the cast of the upcoming spinoff) who shared back on December 20 that The Madison had wrapped filming:
“And that’s a wrap on Season 2. Heart is full.”
So to recap, The Madison has shot both Seasons 1 and 2, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are attached (but Russell is likely only in Season 2), and there’s no confirmed premiere date for either season.
It’s very intriguing that they’ve kept the public in the dark about The Madison for so long. The show has been rumored for years now, and they’ve managed to shoot two entire seasons without any leaks or information getting out. We still don’t even know for certain how this spinoff will fit into the expansive Yellowstone universe.
All we really do know is that some other talented actors and actresses besides Pfeiffer and Russell are set to be included in the cast. Danielle Vasinova, Ben Schnetzer, Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, and the aforementioned Elle Chapman are all also in The Madison, and it’ll be exciting to meet all of their characters when we eventually get to see the first season.
