Pretty solid lineup, eh?
When you’re performing at a festival like this, and many of your friends and colleagues are there, it’s always fun to surprise the crowd and bring a friend on stage to throw down an unexpected duet. Tyler Childers did just that during his headlining set, showcasing the fantastic talent of Wynonna Judd.
Judd, who also performed earlier in the day on Sunday, delivered a fantastic set filled with hits from her solo career, as well as tunes from The Judds, the musical duet she formed with her mother. Although Naomi is no longer with us, it’s always heartwarming to see her legacy live on through the music she and Wy created together.

Wynonna Judd and Tyler Childers have been on the road together this year, with Wynonna serving as the opening act for the concert, so it made perfect sense for Childers to invite her on stage, given they were both performing on the same day of UTBS.
Childers paused his set to invite the “Why Not Me” singer to the stage, and the crowd erupted with applause. Childers and Judd have hit the stage together before, so this was not the duo’s first time performing “Way Of The Triune God” together. The two have amazing stage chemistry, and given they are comfortable with how this song should be as a duet, the pair lets loose and has fun with it while performing.
The performance is captivating from start to finish, and Wynonna’s powerful vocal delivery takes the audience to church. Childers, per usual, lets it rip while singing. When Tyler Childers and Wynonna Judd step on stage, it’s the embodiment of two powerhouse vocalists. What a way to close out Under The Big Sky 2025.

Tyler Childers’ Upcoming ‘Snipe Hunter’ Release
This week is a big week for Tyler Childers, as he prepares for the release of his album, Snipe Hunter, which is set to drop everywhere on July 25th.
For Snipe Hunter, Childers teamed up with the legendary producer and guru, Rick Rubin, who’s worked with everyone from Beastie Boys and Run DMC to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica, and even the Dixie Chicks. The album also features production from Tyler himself, as well as Sylvan Esso’s Nick Sanborn.
Ahead of the album’s announcement, RCA Chairman and CEO Peter Edge said the project will “defy expectations,” and I think we can see why:
“I’m really excited about Tyler Childers’ new album, which is produced by Rick Rubin. He defies expectations, and this new album goes even further. The great thing about Tyler is that he does it the way he wants to do it. He’s playing giant venues, and he’s making the music he wants to make.”
While we fans anxiously await the album’s release, Tyler Childers is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at how these songs came to life. In a recent social media post, Childers shares snippets of songs as they were being cut in the studio. While it’s hard to decipher which songs these snippets belong to, my ears are pleased with what they are hearing.
We also get a cameo from Rick Rubin himself, guiding Childers through his vocals and explaining how they will sound once the melody is laid over them. This short snippet of Rubin showcases the certified “vibe” master and studio guru that he is. If you’re reading that and laughing, it’s no joke. He has a natural ability to help artists channel their inner creativity, stripping away all distractions and noise. The entire record-making process is almost a spiritual experience.
The behind-the-scenes footage also shows Childers and his band, The Foodstamps, having some fun in the process- which is what it’s all about, right?
And some more footage:
This has me fired up to hear the album in full. Come on with it.The post Wynonna Judd Joins Tyler Childers At Under The Big Sky Festival For Electric “Way Of The Triune God” Duet first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
