Coming soon.
After scoring major hits last year upon the release of 9 Lives with “Sweet Dreams” and most notably “High Road” featuring Jessie Murph becoming his first career #1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, 2025 has been a relatively quiet year release-wise for Koe Wetzel.
You can hardly even blame him considering the fact that 9 Lives was such a success commerically, he’s been out on the road with HARDY all summer on the Jim Bob World Tour and most notably, he welcomed his first child, Woods Madison Wetzel, with his longtime girlfriend, Bailey Fisher, back in May. Simply put, it’s been a pretty life-altering year for the “Ragweed” singer.
With all of that being said, however, it looks like we’re getting a lot of new music from Wetzel coming soon.
If you recall, before the release of “Surrounded” on July 25, Wetzel took to Instagram back in April to share photos from the studio alongside his producer, Gabe Simon (producer of 9 Lives, Noah Kahan’s Stick Season, Lana Del Ray’s Blue Bannisters) with the caption, “We are so f****** back.”
Around that time, he also discussed his vision for the new record at an Audacy Totally Private concert. Before he took the stage for his acoustic set that night, he sat down with Katie Neal for a mini-episode of Katie & Company, disclosing that he had been in Nashville working on a new record.
Neal asked Wetzel what the next chapter looks like. Koe noted that he’s going to build off the sound established on his last studio record, 9 Lives.
“Just kind of growing off of ‘9 Lives.’ You know, I think the music that I’ve made for so long has just kind of instilled into me and just kind of soldered into me and with this new music out, with the new record, I just kind of wanted to get a little bit more of that rock ‘n’ roll side. Back to that Texas rock ‘n’ roll.
Working with Gabe Simon again, so it’s fun. You know, every time we go into the studio, it’s different. Every day is different. It’s just kind of go in there blind, having a little bit of an idea of what you’re going to write, but not having a whole outlook on it. And kind of stepping back after the day of work and go like, ‘Holy sh*t that’s, you know, that’s pretty cool actually.’
And that’s bringing a lot more joy back to songwriting and being in the studio because we’re going straight from writing to recording right then. I feel like that’s how it should be, and we are having a lot of fun with it. So… I don’t know, we’ll see how it all comes out.”
Flash forward to today and Wetzel shared some more information about the new record in a brief interview with Road Dog Texas before his recent show at EECU Center in Stephenville, Texas.
According to Wetzel, he’s been busy in the studio lately and has recorded not one but TWO records over the past year. Though there’s no scheduled release date, he promised that new music is coming soon.
“We’ve got some new music coming. I don’t know exactly when the release date’s gonna be, but a lot of new music. I think we’re sitting on like two records now. We’re excited about all new music and finishing up the tour and hunting season.”
The Texas native would also note that the album(s) are still in the early stages without a working title. Additionally, he declined to comment about any potential collaborations on the album, saying he can’t release that much information.
Overall, it’s all but a guarantee that “Surrounded” will work its way onto the tracklist for the next project. As stated, there is currently no release date. With that being said, however, it seems as if an early 2026 timeframe would be the most plausible given the fact it’s still in early stages of development.
