Watch Sleep Token’s Vessel Cover Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark” Live in Philly

It’s not too uncommon for artists to cover a song that’s culturally important to the area they’re playing in on any given night. It’s a great way to engratiate yourself with the crowd while paying tribute to the greats. Such was what went down last night in Philadelphia, as Sleep Token played to a packed Xfinity Mobile Arena.

During what looks like a lull in the show, Vessel starts playing the 1984 Bruce Springsteen classic “Dancing in The Dark”. Though The Boss is a New Jersey native and export, Philly is close enough, so I’ll let this one slide.

What the crowd got that night was a slow, somber version of the upbeat classic. The Sleep Token version has some added weight to it that the original song doesn’t have. There’s a different sense of urgency in the lyrics and that’s due to Vessel’s delivery. Even if you don’t like Sleep Token or Bruce Springsteen (this Jersey boy can’t stand him), you’ll find something to enjoy about this rendition.
