Last month, Swifties began planning their royal wedding after Taylor Swift shared that she and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, were engaged.
On August 26th, 13 days after she made her appearance on the New Heights podcast, Taylor Swift announced she and Travis Kelce are tying the knot. Of course, if you know anything about the number 13 and Taylor Swift, this timing is perfect in the midst of Swifties.
The announcement of their engagement broke the internet, with Swift posting images of a flower-filled proposal and a rock that could blind someone from Mars.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Kelce and Swift started dating in the summer of 2023, after Travis attended her Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July. The story goes that he had hoped to meet her backstage and give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number, but he couldn’t manage to pull it off.
He then discussed it on the aforementioned podcast with Jason, and they eventually made contact, and the rest, as they say, is history.
After the two announced they were getting hitched, the internet was filled with theories of whether Travis popped the question right after Taylor Swift appeared on the New Heights podcast, given that there is a headphone dent in her hair. While Travis had not yet confirmed nor denied the day he got down on one knee, he is giving fans some details about the engagement, but is still letting Taylor share the whole story when she’s ready.
Taylor Swift has maintained a shockingly high level of privacy in her personal life, given her level of fame, so you have to respect that Travis is letting her share bits on her own accord.
In a recent pre-game interview with Erin Andrews, Travis Kelce shared a little bit about his emotions surrounding the proposal, noting that he shed a few tears while asking Taylor Swift to spend the rest of her life with him.
“She can tell that story. The palms were definitely sweating. I was definitely… I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there. It’s been an exciting ride up to this date. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”
Travis Kelce’s face lit up when Erin Andrews asked him about his lady, and it’s heartwarming to see that these two share a genuine love for each other.
On the other hand… I’m sure that some folks were not thrilled to see that Taylor Swift questions infiltrated pre-game interviews. Since the two began dating, Taylor has been a central focal point at Kansas City Chiefs games, watching her star tight end boyfriend most Sundays, in addition to making appearances at some of their away games.
She’s shown on the broadcast numerous times throughout the games, and it honestly became a point of contention because so many fans got tired of seeing her… which she made a joke about while appearing on the New Heights podcast:
“As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast. I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens… it’s more of me.”
Her appearances fire up fans enough, but NFL fans might see more of her than ever before this season because there is speculation that she might be the Super Bowl halftime performer. During one portion of her appearance on New Heights, Taylor Swift discusses her granny hobbies, sharing that she enjoys painting, cooking, sewing, and, most recently, taking up baking sourdough.
“I have a different baking obsession every six months. Right now, we’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken up my life.”
What does that have to do with the Super Bowl halftime show? Well, this year’s Super Bowl will be held at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers…whose mascot is Sourdough Sam.
Swift is obviously the most prominent artist in the world, and there’s no doubt that the NFL would love to be able to land her as the halftime performer, something NFL commissioner Roger Goodell admitted today during an appearance on The Today Show:
“We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent. And obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”
Only time will tell if she is the halftime performer. Post Malone is also the predicted halftime performer, according to Chargers Quarterback Justin Herbert- and honestly, I’d take Swift and Malone over a rapper like Jay-Z.
We will know sooner rather than later if Roger Goodell was dropping a hint or just pulling our leg.
