Making an impact in his community.
Tracy Lawrence is a famed ’90s country music star, responsible for hits like “Paint Me A Birmingham,” “Time Marches On,” “Stars Over Texas,” and more. Today, you might know him beyond his music for this philanthropic work, hosting his annual Mission:Possible Turkey Fry and Benefit Concert. Lawrence is an active philanthropist, constantly finding ways to give back to the greater Nashville community, even outside of his annual Mission:Possible event.
Ahead of this year’s turkey fry and concert, Tracy Lawrence visited various organizations around Middle Tennessee that align with the values of Mission:Possible and presented checks to Aloe Family, Monroe Harding, Dream Streets, Second Harvest, and Shower Up!. The total amount of money donated added up to $85,000 this year, adding to their grand total of nearly $3M since Mission:Possible’s inception.
Lawrence personally delivered each check to the listed organizations and took time out of his busy schedule to speak with employees and learn more about the various organizations and foundations.
Lawrence shared:
“I’ll never get over how amazing it is that Mission:Possible can help support so many organizations in need that share our same mission. It’s one thing to mail a check, but there’s something truly special about visiting in person — touring the facility, meeting the staff, and personally handing them a check.”
These donations show how much Lawrence cares about his community, and he’s done this ahead of his most ambitious Mission:Possible turkey fry later this fall. This year celebrates 20 years of Mission:Possible, and this year’s turkey fry and benefit concert will be held on November 25 at the Nashville Fairgrounds and Category 10.
This year’s turkey fry is expected to feed over 32,000 people in need in Middle Tennessee through the Nashville Rescue Mission, eight surrounding county school systems, and other various community organizations that provide for those in need.
Since Lawrence founded Mission:Possible, the organization has fried over 10,000 turkeys, provided more than 86,000 meals to the homeless across Middle Tennessee, donated over $1 million to Nashville Rescue Mission, and raised nearly $3 million.
